Zyrx Synergies | Splinterlands
With just 10 days till the release of the first Conclave Arcana airdrop, Zyrx the Emberglace, Here are some of the pairings I'm excited to try out with Zyrx.
Zyrx + Nidhoggr
Zyrx + Nidhoggr is the pairing I'm most excited to try out, as both the extra speed and the Blast will be great additions to Zyrx's already stacked kit.
Zyrx already has Execute, which makes Nid's +2 speed / Execute tactic slightly less appealing, but it's interesting nonetheless just for the speed buff that can help Zyrx get going.
However I think I'm more likely to try him out with Blast, and stack speed/slow with units (see below for my top options) in the lineup instead. If I'm using the Blast tactic, I'll look for other execute units to put that on, such as Leolin Sifu, Thunderous Herald, and Thanalorian Blade.
Paired with Akane
Pairing Zyrx with Akane is a great way to get him going early, via the Ambush round.
One particular unit I'm quite excited to try out is with Kei, who has a speed of 5 and will therefore go before Zyrx. This lets Kei shatter the front unit's armor before Zyrx goes, increasing his chance to get a kill & therefore Bloodlust.
When ambushing with Akane, I'll look to stack other high-attack units that can go before Zyrx (i.e speed>4), such as Vicious Giraffe (another option for shattering), Kha'Zi Conjurer (great option as their Incendiaries don't stack), Slade, Desolation, and Venka.
Paired with Speed units
Getting Zyrx to attack quickly each round will help him get going faster. Water and Death are good splinter choices here as they have more Swiftness/Slow units than the others.
Paired with Shatter
Shatter will help get rid of that pesky Armor so that Zyrx can be more likely to land a kill.
Of course it only works if it's the same target as Zyrx, and also if the Shatter unit is faster than Zyrx. Interestingly, all the Shatter options in Modern are in Fire (4 units) and Dragon (Kei)... And Water if you include Yabanius :)
Zyrx + Yabanius
So...Zyrx is yet another card that makes me really want Yaba. There are a few synergies at play here:
- Yaba's Empower ability gives Zyrx an extra Magic and extra Melee damage (generally works great next to units with multiple attacks)
- Yaba's shatter and 5 speed means he'll go before Zyrx and can clear armor from the enemy for Zyrx
This is an awesome pairing, which will work really well with Ambush (Akane) or Nid.
Paired with Painforge
Zyrx's Incendiary debilitation will affect its survivability, but it's also a way to get other units going, specifically units with Painforge.
Out of the options available, I like the Sheik (with Life Leech it can keep itself going), Tasoshi (Inspire helps Zyrx as well), and Aranduriel (also Life Leeches to stay alive; stick her behind Zyrx).
Paired with Triage for survivability
With 10 health, Zyrx isn't so squishy that he'll die right away from Incendiary, especially with a Bloodlust or two to keep him alive. However, after a few rounds, Incendiary CAN start to be a problem, particularly if it spreads.
Triage is a good option to keep your team alive as the fire starts to spread. The best option is Life, particularly with the Caravan Guard and his Echo/Triage combo. The Forester's another good option in Life, with Luceheim Demon rounding things out (less good in general). Earth is next up with the awesome Nomad from the reward set and Hemlig. And of course the trusty Daarg Deadblast will help out in Water.

If the new legendary dragon summoner gives armored strike or piercing, that would be a cool synergy with Zyrx. If not those, I'd expect the new summoner might offering some ability that will synergize with this card.
