Plotting Splinterlands Players by D&D Alignment

I saw a post showing the D&D alignment chart plotting various random celebrities, and it made me want to do the same thing with our community here at @splinterlands :) So I asked several people where they'd place themselves, and a few others I placed on my own. You'll see what I've got so far below, but please reach out (in the comments, in Discord, or on X) to let me know where you'd place yourself and why so I can add more people :)

For those who need a refresher, here's a good description of D&D alignments.

Personally I see myself as Neutral Good, because I like to think of myself as focusing less on whether something is lawful or disruptive but more on whether it's "good". I have no issue aligning myself with "law" or "chaos" so long as I consider something to be good.

@breakingbenjamin also told me he associates with Neutral Good. I'd put him as a Wizard and member of the Order of Scribes, who travels to share stories and learn new ones.

@aggroed described himself as Chaotic Good with fears of being Lawful Good, so I stuck him in the middle. I can see him as an Orcish barbarian who's on a mission of peace, honoring freedom and justice above all.

I added @aftersound and @dejota in Neutral Good but haven't yet heard from them. The both strike me as straddling between Lawful and Chaotic Good.

Several people I reached out to associated as Chaotic Good, including @bjangles and @goldmatters, both guys who like to challenge the status quo for the better. I see BJ as a Human Bard and GM as a Half-Elf Sorcerer, both detached from the constraints of law but always vying for good. @vugtis also associates himself with Chaotic Good, which makes sense to me given his strong positions that can often be disruptive - I see him as a Dwarf of noble background who's decided to forge his own path. @beffeater also found himself in this quadrant, and I'd put him as a kind-hearted Halfling Healer, somewhat rebellious but always drawn to help others.

I put @psilence and @bulldog1205 in Chaotic Good but haven't heard from them yet, so guys let me know if you'd place yourself elsewhere :)

@blazekos finds himself between Neutral Good and Chaotic Good. I can see him as a Half-Elf swordfighter who set off on his own, respecting laws when they serve the greater good but generally ignoring or breaking them when they become an obstacle to aiding others.

@royaleagle was precise in his reply, putting himself right in the crosshairs of Neutral/Chaotic Good and True Neutral / Chaotic Neutral. The ultimate show of poise, I see him as an Elvish Monk, with deliberate motions and actions and playing as the calm center of any storm.

@clayboyn gave a nice answer, saying he relates to Chaotic Good in his life, but for Splinterlands tries to be as close to True Neutral as possible, so I put him in the latter but edging towards Chaotic Good. I like True Neutral for him - he strikes me as a good-natured and sturdy Druid who works tirelessly to seek balance in all things.

I put @jeffopenscards, @davemccoy, and @infidel1258 as Lawful Good characters, as I see them as always acting with compassion and a sense of duty. I see them as righteous paladins or duty-bound dwarves.

@azircon I put into Lawful Neutral. I spoke with him and he initially leaned Lawful Good, which makes sense too, but I told him I see him as a "judge or enforcer who adheres mercilessly to the 'law' or a disciplined monk", and he related to that :)

I put @vcdragon as a Chaotic Neutral character... I didn't get his feedback (but would welcome it!), however I see him as a Chaotic Tiefling Rogue who likes to constantly run into walls.

It was hard to come up with Evil characters, but @bjangles suggested Mavchat as a group, which I thought was brilliant. The "Lawful" part of Evil here is because Mavchat was very much a place which felt like an exclusive tyrannical club in some ways. If personified, I'd make it a Lawful Evil Human Paladin who claims to believe in order, hierarchy, and absolute control, but who secretly revels in chaos.

Then there's J6969 - he who shall not be tagged - who came up in a couple of conversations as the only example of Chaotic Evil... He's the evil fiend who would attack and offend for the sheer enjoyment of it.

I'd love to add more of you into this chart, so please reach out and let me know where you'd place yourself and I'll update it!

Update 1

  • Added @yabapmatt as Neutral Good based on feedback from Goldmatters. I think it makes sense - Matt strikes me as someone who focuses on "good" no matter what, with less emphasis on whether it conforms to the rules or whether it's disruptive.
  • Added @ducecrypto as Chaotic Neutral. In his own words: "I'm a fire sign and I need to constantly be busy with stuff. I need drama so I need chaos. I'd like to think I'm a little to risky for chaos good but thoughtful enough not to be chaos evil."

Update 2

  • Moved @psilence from Chaotic Good to Lawful Evil 🤣 Spoke to the Psi and he had this to say for himself (note he's speaking about a D&D character - the Psi is a totally a good dude!!): "Freedom to do what I want without morality getting in the way 😉 PLUS all my friends are always "good guys", so I love to add an element that works against them sometimes. Adds more role-playing opportunities
Moreso the fact everyone is always good so I like to be different. My current D&D character is actually an evil cleric of the dark God Asmodius (a devil who lives in the ninth layer of hell.) His entire goal is to try and trick the party into giving up their souls to asmodius so that he can bring them all to the underworld and have them serve Asmodius for all time." He then added "Evil is fun", but he added a smiley, so it's all good. I stuck him in the upper right corner of Lawful Evil so he's on the border and can make the jump into Neutral or Good at some point :)
  • Shifted @aggroed slightly over towards Chaotic Good, as that was his initial inclination and a few others agreed with that :)
  • Added afterdark, @aftersound's evil alter ego, as Neutral Evil.
  • Added @canada804 as Chaotic Good. With that mask I would've seen him more as a Chaotic Evil Assassin, but from his personality I think Chaotic Good is a nice fit :)
  • @devonhdd went "100% chaotic evil, cause as much destruction as possible and move on to pillage further lands." No ambiguity there!
  • @odajareignos went for True Neutral: "I would be and always have been a True Neutral, smack dab in the middle. I can see reasons for all Sides and why they do what they Do!"
  • @blewitt went Chaotic Good as that's the last character he used.
  • @tk2927 decided to straddle between Chaotic and Neutral Good: "I don’t like rules and I tend to buck the trend, but I also value being helpful to our community!"
  • @baltai joined the Neutral Good gang
  • @amphlux stuck to his "chaotic neutral vibes", adding "bro", which is totally what a Chaotic Neutral degen person would say ;)
  • @mattclarke crowded into the Chaotic Good group. While he hasn't played D&D, his inclination was to get as far away from Lawful Evil as he could get. So that's where I put him.
  • I put @bunsbagsandcaps in Chaotic Neutral bordering on Chaotic Good, but this is just a hunch. The profile photo alone though seems to indicate some amount of Chaos :)

Update 3

Missed a few from the comments here!!

Update 4

More CHAOS!

  • Added @boltz85 to Chaotic Evil. In his words: "I see myself in the CHAOTIC EVIL cuz - BOLTZ85 Loves : Salt - Drama - troll'n - Shorting the Market - A lil Chaos and let's not forget his favorite superhero is THE JOKER muahahahahahahaha". Yeah, sounds about right.
  • @thelunacysystem in Chaotic Neutral, because "chaotic chaotic isn't a thing".
  • Added @ank2020. Welcome to the Neutral Good gang my golden friend!

Update 5

  • Added @silentriot to True Neutral
  • Added @bronzedragon to the intersection of Lawful Neutral and Neutral Good. I see him as a wise Silver Dragon who upholds the law, but whose compassion tempts him towards benevolence.
  • @Marjanko wanted to be in the Chaotic Neutral category next to @vcdragon :)
  • Mr Bananas, aka @sharkmonsters, also joined the Chaotic Neutral gang. I see him as a Simianfolk Bardic Trickster bent on playful Chaos.
  • @jagged ALSO went for Chaos Neutral, further bolstering those ranks.
  • @beelzael joined Azircon in the Lawful Neutral group: "I prefer to look at things from all angles and consider the possible influences. If it comes to it, I tend to cater to society before myself. Also, there's a lot of space in that quadrant, and I don't like crowded places too much."
  • @warrentrx joined us in the Neutral Good box. Based on his profile pic, I'd place him as a Skeleton Imp Warlock who loves mischief but ultimately always chooses good.

Update 6

  • Added @aironeous in the Lawful Good group. He's a Priest who turned into a Planetar! "Large Celestial, Lawful God". Not a bad transformation 😅
  • Also added @white-cloud-inc who joins the ever-growing Chaotic Neutral crew.
  • Added @omz187 who, with zero hesitation, plopped himself into the Neutral Evil category. Zombie Samurai that one - cares not for rules or chaos, just evil.

In my gamer CV, one of my biggest milestones is escaping from League of Legends Elo Hell 3 times, reaching Gold from bronze V my last season. You have not met real toxicity if you have not played this game. I can tell you guyz #Splinterlands is the paradise compared to that!

Loved u described me as a Halfling Healer, as this has been my main role in all RPG games! Supports are my best units, even in this game!

I do have enjoyed reading this post so much! My grandma always said "You have to break the eggs before cooking an omelette!"

Lots of love!

Wow, you turned the Splinterlands community into a D&D party, awesome man. Honestly, I'd probably end up as some chaotic rogue who keeps getting distracted by shiny loot instead of finishing the quest lol

Nice!

Upon reading this, I dug into the D&D alignment guide for the first time since '97? '98? and, man, I gotta say, bards are pretty friggin badass.

Get this:

A bard’s life is spent wandering across the land gathering lore, telling stories, and living on the gratitude of audiences, much like any other entertainer. But a depth of knowledge, a level of musical skill, and a touch of magic set bards apart from their fellows.

Only rarely do bards settle in one place for long, and their natural desire to travel—to find new tales to tell, new skills to learn, and new discoveries beyond the horizon—makes an adventuring career a natural calling. Every adventure is an opportunity to learn, practice a variety of skills, enter long-forgotten tombs, discover lost works of magic, decipher old tomes, travel to strange places, or encounter exotic creatures. Bards love to accompany heroes to witness their deeds firsthand. A bard who can tell an awe-inspiring story from personal experience earns renown among other bards. Indeed, after telling so many stories about heroes accomplishing mighty deeds, many bards take these themes to heart and assume heroic roles themselves.

Bards have somewhat of an interesting reputation in D&D as both the face of the party and also as the mischievous seducer/seductress. Part of this is due to their naturally high charisma scores, but this is something they share with paladins, sorcerers, warlocks, and even rogues to some extent

Sick!

Thanks for tossin this together, BT!

That's funny! A few good laughs in there :-D

I'd place myself in the upper right corner of Lawful Neutral I guess, after reading through the different explanations. It's never easy to fit oneself into a single drawer :-D

I prefer to look at things from all angles and consider the possible influences. If it comes to it, I tend to cater to society before myself. Also, there's a lot of space in that quadrant, and I don't like crowded places too much.

Thanks for the add! I chose myself as True Neutral for several reasons....I was named after Raistlin Majere from the Dragon Lance book series who was a half good-half evil Mage. Funny enough in irl I'm a Gemini - the twins, being able to perceive from many perspectives. My IGN reflects my introverted-extrovert nature as well. In irl much of my life I struggled with my own inner demons/depression & was more inclined to harm myself but would never even think of intentionally hurting anyone else. Nowadays, I'm a Reiki Practitioner, Psychic, Energy Healer/Channeler/Light Weaver, but in order to get to this point I had to do a lot of Shadow work, face my own inner hell, meditation, spiritual practice, and so on. Since I channel the Universal Life Force/Quantum Spark, which is a Neutral energy, this is where I reside as a Conduit whose traversed both shadow & light in other dimensions! 🕉
