Happy Cinco de Mayo! For this post, I wanted to take a look at some of my favorite units to be revealed so far in the Conclave Arcana set and why I like them. There's a ton more I like, but I just wanted to highlight a subset.

Gramel's the card I'm most excited about, and for good reason. He's the first card with a triple attack, and with Relentless Strike he'll deal extra damage to any unit with Shield or Void and is less likely to miss (although it's not quite True Strike). Camouflage feels like a bit of an odd ability, but it'll at least reduce his chance of dying. Shapeshift should be a killer ability as he can pair with any of the dominion-specific Archons and should (if I understand it correctly) benefit from Bloodline Tribute as well.

He'll pair extremely well with Cryptic to expose/poison three times (and potentially 3 separate units) each turn.

Arcane Skinwalker's the other standout promo. Though not as immediately OP as Gramel, his Shapeshifter ability gives him the same benefits as Gramel. He'll also be an absolute killer in magic-only rulesets.

Inept Healer is a fantastic unit and is absolutely not inept. I love the art, with the bearded lady awkwardly looking at her (melting?) hand. As for those abilities - we all know from the Weaver how amazing Corrupted Healing is so for 3 mana that's incredibly strong. But add onto that Magic Reflect and Void, as well as Phase + 5 speed, and this unit will be a must-have in magic heavy rulesets. She's just a little bit squishy at only 5 health, so she may need some support. Lorkus will be her friend with +1 magic and Life Leech.

Taye Loreswift is one of the best-named cards in the set, and the art is awesome as well. 3 mana with Reach, Inspire, and Piercing is awesome. She'll need a little help against Tofu if he's an option due to Thorns, but will otherwise be a staple for melee heavy teams.

Leolin's a cat, so I immediately gave her bonus points. Add onto that the True Strike, Relentless Strike, and Execute and she's a real killer. But the real killer pairing here is EMP thanks to her 7 armor. Put her at the front with the Armored Strike and stick Taye behind her, and she'll be doing 6 melee damage and 8 armored strike damage, all with piercing and the inability to miss and dealing extra damage to any tank with Shield or Void and THEN hitting again if she gets them down to 2 health. Of course there's the risk of Tofu, so she may need a deflection shroud from someone. Another cool combo will be with Nidhoggr, where you can stick Blast on her as she's already got the Execute. Leo will be a fun card.

Bren is going to be a lot of fun with his dual weapons training for 6 mana. Not to mention Sneak with that dual-attack alone is high value, AND the man's got Shapeshift to boot, meaning he'll get all the benefits from dominion-specific summoners. Looks like a killer card.

Forget the double attack and the Relentless Strike, it's the Bloodline Tribute and self-revive that I love Moribund Arrowbait for. He's like a hippo-specific marksrat who self-revives, which is great value at 4 mana. And oh wait, DON'T forget about the double attack and Relentless Strike, because those are both great abilities on their own right!
