Focus on Zyrx

Zyrx the Emberglace, the first airdrop for the latest Splinterlands set, Conclave Arcana, has been out for about a week, and I've had a lot of fun playing with it. The combination of Bloodlust, Execute, and dual attacks make it an offensive beast that combines very well with some of the current Dragon Archons.

For your viewing pleasure, I've compiled over a dozen battles in this post that feature it in a variety of different situations.

Zyrx with Nidhoggr + Blast

I've played Nid with Blast more in the last week than I had in the past 6 months. The beauty of pairing Zyrx with Blast is that it already has execute, and has decent speed. It'll trigger Execute if any of the damaged units go to 1-2 health, which gives it a great chance at getting its Bloodlust going.

One of the keys here is to get enough speed to make sure (a) Zyrx goes early, and (b) Zyrx doesn't miss. Stacking cards like Ulfga, the pickle, Daarg, Daigendark Surveyor, and others who speed up your team and slow down the opponent is key.

I also like putting Kei in the lineup to break the front's armor before Zyrx goes.

Zyrx with Akane + Ambush

Ambush is a fantastic ability to stick onto Zyrx, as it gives him a chance to go before the full battle start and hopefully land a Bloodlust in the pre-game round.

Stick Kei in the second spot to break the tank's armor, if any, and stack other swiftness/slow units to increase Zyrx's speed. Since you get 2 Ambushes, consider adding another unit with higher speed than Zyrx in case you need another attack before Zyrx to guarantee he lands a kill.

In certain rulesets (e.g. Blast) this can be a total cheat code, with Zyrx going early and having near certainty of landing a kill.

All-in with Yabanius

In this battle I paired Zyrx with Yabanius, giving him an extra magic and melee attack BEFORE even getting any Bloodlust! To top it off I brought in Nidhoggr and went for the extra speed. Unstoppable.

Zyrx vs Heloise

Finally, here's an example of how Zyrx works against Heloise. Each kill gives him additional Armor, which gives him protection from Heloise's retaliate. Zyrx's initial armor will protect it even if the enemy brings two Rusts to their team, and with each kill Zyrx will Bloodlust and get 1 extra armor that'll protect it from Heloise's next Spite. It's a beautiful thing to watch unfold.
