Buying more DEC for Conclave Arcana
For the Splinterlands Flywheel to work, there needs to be buy pressure on DEC (achieved through the desire for products paid for in DEC) which in turn incentivizes SPS owners to burn their SPS for DEC (when DEC reaches or is close to peg).
As you may know, when it comes to buying SPS, I am a Lvl 99 Guild Merchant, regularly activating my exclusive class abilities:
- Buy, Always: Activates purchase of SPS no matter the time of day or market price; after all, it's therapeutic
- SPS PSA: Performs a Public Service Announcement, letting the community know that they, too, should buy SPS
However, I humbly admit that I am terrible at burning SPS. You see, I just love it too much, so I can't get myself to sacrifice it. Others, like the Exalted Arsonist @aggroed and Praetorian Terraformer @cryptomancer have willingly sent SPS to the flames, and I thank them for their tributes.
I, however, play my role by buying DEC on the market, putting upwards pressure on DEC prices thereby helping incentivize the noble sacrifices of the Legion of Burn.
Today, I am buying another $5k worth of DEC, which is currently a little over 5.2M DEC, to add to my stash for Conclave Arcana purchases.
The method I used is fairly simple:
- Send USDT to a private wallet on BSC
- Swap the USDT for DEC using PancakeSwap
How should I get my DEC?
For smaller amounts of DEC, I advise using Hive Engine. For larger amounts, PancakeSwap is better as it has more liquidity. I wrote a post a little while back explaining how to buy SPS, and the two methods (Hive Engine and BSC/PCS) are described there and can be used for DEC.
If you do wish to burn SPS to get your DEC, you should definitely not feel bad about it! At the current price of DEC, you're getting nearly as much as you would by buying it on the market, and if the SPS is already in your account it's also much more convenient than any other method of acquiring SPS.
Lastly don't forget that you can also buy packs with Credits. While there's still a small discount on DEC, this method is also quite convenient, primarily if you're bringing in fresh fiat, and it's the method our buddy @azircon has said he will be using to buy his packs.
How much will you spend on CA, and what packs will you buy?
I plan to spend >50M DEC on the Conclave Arcana presale. I don't mind showing my cards: I'm going for a leaderboard spot. What packs will I buy? Alchemy packs, mainly, because I want a full Black Foil set.
I'm all in.

The chase is real!
I plan to use 50K DEC. Probably! :)

I also haven't burned any SPS (yet) since I feel there is still plenty more room for price appreciation. I've added to my bags after Bulldog's hype video, luckily catching most of the 100% pump, but thats for earning, not for burning!
On the other hand, buying credits also provides pressure on DEC, but slightly less directly, since as you know, the team must use DEC from their pockets, from the market, or from burned SPS, to swap out for credits on the backend.
When DEC is less than 2% from peg, so about 980 Splintoshis, I actually have a better spread buying credits since I get 2% back in BTC on my credit card and don't have to pay any bridging fees to get from BSC to Hive. Plus I'm happy to know I am adding outside capital to the game.
Well anyways, save some alchemy packs for me. Between you and Yabapmatt, I'll let you duel over the black foils and I'll just continue stacking my gold foil sets. Cheers!!
