Water Magic: River Nymph
Sometimes in sports, I've heard this saying that a player is doing good invisible work. That means he or she is contributing a lot to the team's effort but in a way that doesn't always give credit or make to headlines.
River Nymph, you are just like that, an invisible worker. When a tank monster is celebrated as a champion, no one is talking about how you cleansed him and made him able to regenerate his health again. They'll be missing you when you are not there and they'll be missing you when it's just too late.
This Splinterlands battle challenge is about you!
My Team
My strategy is based entirely on the use of magic. I know it carries certain risks such as if the enemy should have a Magic Reflect ability for example. That being said, if there are no such setbacks, this all-magic team will do some serious damage.
The architect to do that today is none other than my all-time favorite summoner, ALRIC STORMBRINGER. This old man will boost the magic attacks of all my monster by one.
KELP INITIATE is chosen to stand on the tank spot. His mission is very clear, dodge the opponent's attacks and if not able to, then well...kinda try to absorb the hits a little so the rest of the team can drop the nasties.

DJINN OSHANNUS plays a major role in both offensive and in defense tactics.
First of all, he has a good magic attack which becomes even better after Alrics buff. Secondly, when...I mean if Kelp should fall, Oshannus will become a perfect substitute being very fast(5) and having an impressive amount of health(10).
If that isn't enough, Oshannus also possess the Void ability so he will take reduced damage from enemy magic attacks.

VENARI WAVESMITH is an important piece in the puzzle because of her Protect ability. She will provide all friendly monsters with +2 Armor.
Since my backline is rather vulnerable, this will be essential against the Ranged or Melee monsters with Sneak, Snipe, or Opportunity.
She is not as strong as the stats seen in the picture. That is because her level was reduced as our summoner is only on level 1.

There she is! RIVER NYMPH has pretty decent stats, 1 magic attack(with Alric that is 2), 2 speed and 3 health.
What makes her special is the Cleanse ability. She will remove all the negative effects on the tank unit. For example, in this battle we are facing the disgusting Creeping Ooze which will slow down all my monsters, all but not whoever happens to be in the first position!
Last but not least we have ENHANCED PIXIE. While her basic stats aren't that impressive, she does have some very good attributes.
Flying ability will make her a hard target to hit. Other than that, recruiting her on the team only costs 3 mana points. I'd say she is well worth it.
And then there's the least. CHAOS AGENT could be contributing something with the Dodge ability but unfortunately that is not in use because his level is also reduced cos of the summoner level. Well, at least they have to spend one attack on him...

Enter The Arena
What we got here is a 26-mana battle with Holy Protection ruleset. That means every monster on both teams will receive Divine Shield Ability so the first attacks are ignored.
My opponent chose GENERAL SLOAN of the Life splinter as their summoner. General will grant all of his ranged monsters +1 in their attack.
Now, there are a couple of interesting monsters in the enemy ranks that are worth mentioning.

- SHIELDBEARER is a pretty strong tank unit by itself.
- VENARI CRYSTALSMITH will be healing him with the Tank Heal ability.
- Gladly we got four boosted magic monsters so we don't have to worry about Shieldbearers Armor(4).
- Hopefully our magic is strong enough to get rid of him despite the healer.

STITCH LEACH could mean some problems for my team with its Sneak ability. Fortunately, Chaos Agent is more than willing to take one for the team.
PELACOR ARBALEST will be attacking twice in a round with the Double Strike ability.

The Battle

ROUND 1

Kelp Initiate was slowed down by the Creeping Ooze and took some heavy beating. He was cleansed by the River Nymph but had lost his armor and was left with only one health point as we move on to the second round.
ROUND 2

Djinn Oshannus showed his might and dropped the Shieldbearer at the beginning of round 2. Poor Kelp was defeated by Pelacor Arbalest who also took down Oshannus' Divine Shield.
Already fast Oshannus was made even faster after River Nymph cleaned him from that ooze. Now at his favorite position, in front, he was facing the Stitch Leech and managed to dodge the Leech's attack.
ROUND 3
Oshannus took care of the Leech and now it was time to get rid of the Creeping Ooze. Before that, Oshannus took a couple of hits and it was left to River Nymph to deal with the Ooze.

ROUND 4
The enemy healer was now in front but unable to attack from that position. However, we still had to worry about the double-striking Pelacor. He was quickly played into the first position and after losing the divine shield, it was River Nymph who ended the fight.

Conclusion
Cleanse is a very useful ability to have. I'm not sure though if a monster is worth having on the team just because of it. If we compare River Nymph to Scavo Chemist for example, I like the fact that she is bringing so much more to the table. While the Chemist has no attack at all, Nymph can actually be quite lethal with a summoner like Alric Stormbringer.
At the moment River Nymph is the fifth cheapest Chaos Legion water monster card costing $0.10. As it is upgraded to higher levels she will have other abilities such as Amplify and Swiftness.
Hope you give her a chance. Thank you for reading!
