So Cold...

It's officially a cold weather day for me. That means school is cancelled for students and most the staff, but because I am considered an administrator, I have to come in. The temperature outside is actually -1, but the feels like temperature is -9. The threshold in Michigan that most superintendents hold to is -20 F. Once the windchill dips the temps into that range, they are pretty much obligated to close school.

In fact, many schools made the call after 7PM last night in preparation for the temperatures they were calling for today. Obviously, in reality they probably could have held off, but with wind gusts expected to be pretty strong today, it's not out of the realm of possibility we could dip below that -20 degree mark. According to the forecast, by about 9AM this morning we should be hitting the -25 F mark, so we will see.

Speaking of cold... The crypto markets are pretty blah right now am I right? Just when it looked like we were heading back over $100K BTC, we have fallen back below that $90K mark. It's pretty frustrating, but all we can do is just hold on and wait. I'm still looking for a point where I can maybe make some moves and take some gains, but right now those chances are few and far between. Even HIVE has fallen back below that $.10 mark.

FUD

It's funny, because there has a been a lot of hopeful news coming out of the governments and things like that concerning crypto, but for whatever reason, the price just keeps getting repressed. It's hard not to buy into the idea that the whole thing is being manipulated at the highest level now. Meanwhile, the FUD machine seems to be churning away as strong as ever. I would have expected by now we might see some kind of relief on that front, but nope, it's still a mess of sensationalized content. Meanwhile, the end result seems to be the same and while we can't stop the FUD machine, the average holder seems to still believe everything they shovel out at us.

Traditional Investments

On the flip side, traditional investments are doing quite well. My regular portfolio is holding strong, and more importantly, precious metals are still on a tear. Like an insane tear. I looked at the spot price of silver this morning and I noticed it is sitting just below $100 USD per ounce. I told my wife the other day if it gets up to $150 or higher, I might have to start thinking about selling some of my pieces that I don't care as much about.

It's not like I own that much, but every little bit helps. It's hard to believe just two years ago I was buying ounces of silver for around $30. Now here we are, I'm thinking about selling when this was originally intended to be a very long term hold for me.

Splinterlands

Things are pretty slow on the Splinterlands side of things. I was thinking about taking part in some tournaments the other day. Those anytime tournaments are kind of interesting. I was specifically looking at the ones that are gold foil card only since I seem to do pretty well in brawls in that niche. Unfortunately, it turns out most of the tournaments have a requirement for a certain deck power. In many cases my deck power was a good one million points too low. Which is crazy given the fact that I have been playing the game since the beginning and I have a decent stack of cards. I don't understand what they are expecting.

Meanwhile, I am not sitting at number 102 on the Validator node leaderboard. If you get a chance and you haven't voted for me yet, please do so here or in peakd. As much as I complain about the game, I am still invested in it and I would like for it to do well. As you can see, I have zero missed blocks, so I think that is a good sign too! I'd love to at least get back into the top 100.

That's really all I have for this week. We are kind of in the mid winter slog right now and as I said, things are just so cold all around. If you are in the southern US, stay safe with the massive storm that is heading your way. I saw reports of up to an inch of ice in some cases. That's no joke and absolutely nuts. It will take a long time to recover from the damage that may bring.

I can feel how cold it is from the photos :))
It's the same in Turkey, especially these past two weeks, it's been very cold. You have to be careful not to get sick. Have a great day and take care of yourselves.

Two years doesn’t feel long, but those price changes are massive.

I don't envy your weather. It's above freezing here, but damp.

I noticed that HBD seems to have gone a bit dead. Has it been dropped by any exchanges recently?

I think there was an exchange that dropped it. I can't remember which one though. I pulled a lot of mine out of savings the other day.

Oh shit, I thought you were writing temperatures in Celsius, and I was like -1 isn't that crazy cold... then I saw it's actually in F... are you mad 😂 I wouldn't go outside 😂 we have 15°F and it's already too cold for me 😂

Yeah, it gets pretty intense here. Not as bad as Minnesota though. There is a spot up north that is supposed to hit -47.7 C today.

Man here it comes!

Brings us right back to the deep freeze last year where, around here, even the chickens stopped laying a while!

Stay warm and stock up on !BEER

Wow! Stay warm!

Crypto markets are pretty sad right now, there is a little push up right now. Let's hope it lasts.

Silver has surpassed $100 already, but I expect some profit taking now. It will drop a bit most likely and the new surge will start. $300 isn't seeming so crazy after all, maybe Bank of America called this one right. They may have some insider info we don't have though. It's going to be a fun year for us stackers!

I will probably hold out for maybe $200. If it never comes I won't feel too bad. I am still holding silver!

We are getting ready for a blast down here. I guess it is about time as we have been dodging it so far. Stay warm up there as I don't think its going to get that cold down here, but they do expect it to get into single digits with wind chill.

There is a lot of disappointment in the crypto market lately, and lots of skepticism I see in the news, which probably leads to lots of the challenges with pricing.

I was reading somewhere that some experts were predicting $300 an ounce for silver eventually. If that happens, my whole stack is sold.

Wife is supposed to be out of hospital as early as today, maybe tomorrow. So get her home right before the storm arrives. We are going to huddle in and watch it storm.

That's good. I hope she gets out before things get going with the storm. I saw $300 from someone else too. I don't have a ton, but that would be pretty crazy!

I don’t have a ton either but enough that would make a big difference 😄

Don’t be so quick to sell your Silver at 300… Start thinking 900 in Fiat or $9.00 in U.S. Stable Coinage…

We will see what the market is doing PC. If it is still rocketing up, I'll hold on.

It should be a very quick jump from where we’re at now, so you won’t have long to wait…

I'll hold all of my silver stack for a good while. My plan was for the long haul so I will stick to that unless something spooks me out of it or the price skyrockets.
Don't really like that shot of the snow blowing over the road.. reminds me of dead winter. brrrrrrr. We are prepared and ready for the big one here. generator is good to go, snow blower set, stopped at liquor store... 😁😆

There is a lot of uncertainty with these declines in the market.

This is definitely the worst part of winter. If we can get through these next few weeks with our sanity intact then we'll have survived the worst of it. Crypto has just been exhausting lately. You can see regular coordinated dumps on Sundays across several of the major exchanges—the market is definitely being artificially suppressed. I've considered putting a little of my portfolio into STRC and taking advantage of that 11% yield. My "boomer" ETFs are drastically outperforming my crypto in the shorter term. I wish you a wonderful weekend. Stay warm!

If it works for you, why not?! The price of silver may or may not hold... no one can tell. So if it works... that is, if you make money... why not, @bozz?!

That's pretty cold....

I hate to think about selling some of my silver rounds, but at the same time, we are approaching levels where it almost doesn't make sense not to sell. Above $100 now! I may sell and move that money to BTC.
