Social Media Challenge - The New Dual-Element Summoners
Hello dear Splinterlands enthusiasts!
We are getting closer and closer to the release of the Rebellion card edition on 5th December. While everyone is focused on the release of land right now, I am looking at some of the new cards. There is sooo much to look at! The first question I ask myself when it comes to the influx of this shitload of new cards is what it will do for my Death Deck. There are a bunch of new features coming including 2 types of summoners, several new abilities and a long list of new little darlings. In this post I want to talk about the 2 dual-element summoners who team my death cards up with 2 other splinters, Fire and Water.
Teaming up 2 splinters really suits my playing style. I like low mana battles on the one hand and on the other I like stacking abilities. So having double the number of cards at my disposal is going to be a lot of fun!
The first of these dual-element summoners is Zeddica! First of all, I really like that we have a set of common summoners in the REBELLION set and I hope prices will be reasonable on the market so that I can max these out relatively quickly. Zeddica teams my Death Deck up with water, which is a really good combo for low mana battles and Little League. Having two little tanks to choose from, Crypt Beetle and Cruel Sethropod is a great place to start. Depending on the rulesets, there a plenty of other combos and variations possible. For example, an all range lineup with Soul Strangler, Weirding Warrior, Kulu Swimhunter and Merdhampir have a lethal total of 13 range attack. Similarly, a powerful magic lineup with Venari Bonesmith, Life Sapper Medusa and Coral Wraith would be a force to contend with.
I also like the possibility to pair up certain duos, like Coastal Sentry/Possessed Puppet with Double Strike in rulesets, like Super Sneak and Melee Mayhem. Another example duo is the two Djinns, Oshannus and Muirat, for a powerhouse magic strategy.
Stacking abilities is also a lot of fun and opens up new possibilities with dual-element summoners. an all-Sneak team with a fat tank at the front and little darlings, like Sabre Shark, Pelacor Bandit, Skeleton Assassin, Undead Badger and Silent Shavi to follow will bring down many opponents, unless there is a Taunt lurking around, which is also ok, because Sneak monsters are fast. You can also stack Poison, Opportunity and a bunch of other abilities with two splinters.
The second dual-element summoner is Dolfar Darflak, teaming up my Death Deck with fire. This is also very interesting for all sorts of strategies. For Little League I like the greater choice of cards because I sometimes feel a little restricted with the fire deck so death cards coming to their aid is going to be great. I can see Soul Strangler and Scavo Firebolt working together to create havoc. I can also imagine putting Queen of Crows together with red Close Range monsters. I am just starting to piece together some of the numerous possibilities to bring 2 splinters together and there will be a lot of experimenting. For example, Ferexian Hero giving the Riftwing Weapons Training in front of him could be very effective. For Death/Fire combos there are lots of possibilities to team up frontline tank pairs, like Cursed Windeku and Radiated Brute, etc. Then there are all the new REBELLION cards coming into the equation.
To top it all off, there is the mindblowing possibility to pair gladiators from different splinters in brawl, provided there is the ruleset for bringing a second gladiator. Imagine Xulax Nightwing followed by Relenor Cleaver or Xulax Nighwing with Chimney Wallstop for a monster frontend attack lineup.
There will be tons of possibilities to combine splinters with the new dual-element summoners, which will definitely reshuffle the decks. The other new type of summoner is the summoner tactics, where you can make a final adjustment to your strategy once both teams are revealed. Reklah allows you to inflict minus 2 health to two monsters or give two monsters Reflection Shield. Honestly, I was hoping for the Death summoners to have something more significant but let's see what we can do with it. In low mana games, taking two health from your opponents team can be very harmful for the opposition, but Thaddius taking 1 health is already plenty in my mind. Reflection Shield will be very helpful and probably game changing with Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
REBELLION and the release of Land are very exciting for the game and as most players are hoping for, it will surely bring new players to the game. The look of the new cards will be more appealing to younger players and Land is something juicy for veterans to sink their teeth into. I myself have not paid much attention to Land as I prefer to wait and see how it develops, but now that Land 1.5 is here, the momentum will surely pick up.

WHAT IS SPLINTERLANDS?
Splinterlands is an autobattle digital card game on the Hive blockchain. The playing cards are NFTs, therefore they belong to you and you can trade, transfer or delegate them as you please. All you need to move cards and other ingame assets around is a Hive Keychain login. There are three types of battles you can play: ranked battles, brawls and tournaments. Every battle you win brings rewards, including SPS and/or loot chests containing cards, potions, packs and merits. The ingame currency is DEC and the governance token is SPS. For gladiator packs you need to earn merits through brawls and loot chests. Tournaments can bring you stacks of SPS if you play well. There are several third party card markets, including Peakmonsters.com and the best places to learn to play are PeakD and YouTube.
I hope you enjoyed this post and in the next one I will talk about the other new dual-element summoners to team up other splinters with one another.
