Social Media Challenge - Rebellion is coming!!
Hi Splinterlanders, I hope you are having a great Splinterday!
As the anticipation is growing and the Social Media Challenge is asking me to write another post about REBELLION, I guess I am getting more excited, too. I said to myself that I would not get caught up in the hype but here I am checking my PeakD every few hours to see if there is a card-reveal post to drool over. One thing, that I am staying true to myself about, though, is that I am not buying packs this time. I bought tons of CL and RW packs in the past and then had a lot of overpriced cards I didn't play with. I also don't have a good track record with packs. I came up with just 2 GF legendaries in 500 packs... So let's focus on stuff other than cards for now.
REBELLION is not just about a new card edition with 90 odd new monsters! There is much more coming along with it. While we are sitting here eagerly waiting to more details about the new cards to trickle down, we have time to think about what else there is.
In THIS article, we can read up on what else awaits us. Although we don’t have a lot of details at this point, we do have a basic outline of some very exciting new features and mechanics.
For example, there are NEW ABILITIES! 4 new abilities are awaiting our little darlings:
Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank and Lookout
These look like niche abilities, which will take some getting used to. I see no point in speculating what these new abilities can do until my little darlings are running around the screen showing me what's what.

Then there are new DUAL-ELEMENT SUMMONERS coming. Unlike a monster moving around in two splinters, there will be 5 dual-element summoners, who are able to summon monsters from two splinters combined. This is mind blowing! Combining 2 splinters is going to create new synergies among monsters of normally opposing splinters. This also makes you both more versatile and specialised when you level up individual cards of splinters that are not your strongest colour.
SUMMONER TACTICS takes the cake, or better said, is the icing on the REBELLION cake. It is the other mind blowing thing! After the teams have been revealed you can make a final adjustment while looking at your opponent’s team. This adds another skills layer to battling and will hopefully ovewhelm bots (probably wishful thinking). Unfortunately, this will not apply to brawls or tournaments but there are hints, that this may come later and is a taste of what Items and Spells can do in future battles.

Other details revealed include all the infos concerning the pre-sale and a revamped airdrop system, called AIRDROP CONFLICTS. As I have no intention of buying packs, this new feature hasn't really grabbed my attention, but as I was reading the post again, I noticed that individual REBELLION cards can be staked, which makes it interesting enough to write about in the next post!
See you on the battlefield, Splinterheads!
