How We Really Increase MAUs On LeoFinance

In life saving one thing and doing another is what really speak volumes about you. So is saying something and then having no plan behind it.

Many goals and other type posts I've seen on LeoFinance over the last few weeks now that it's the start of the new year lack any real plan to reach the goals that have been listed. Sure saying you want 1 million LEO powered up by years end or that you want 5,000 active users by Q1 are all goals but how do you actully get there?

I've been in business for nearly all of my life after realizing I didn't want to work for someone else I set out to build a business, build passive income and now I'm gearing to the next phase of building passive income with crypto only. That's a primary focus for myself here in 2023.

For this article I want to focus on the article LeoFinance release here Onboarding 5k Users to Hive in 2023 and throw my own thoughts in on it along with plans I have for myself to help achieve this.

You might be asked why and that's because LEO is one of my primary focuses this year as it was last year as well but not only that I want to see the value in the token increase to at least $0.25 in the bear market (not because that markets turn bull that's easy) and to actully increase the activity of the platform, ad revenue and well because yes I hold a decent stack of LEO tokens myself so of course I would want to see their value increase.

The Goals

Goals are critical but then figuring out the details of those goals is even more critical. For example 5,000 MAUs what exactly is a MAUs. (Monthly Active Users) Is a monthly active user someone that simply logs in and reads over content? Or do they need to perform other actions such as as least one thread post a week or so many comments on other posts per day or simply upvoting a content piece?

LEO Clip Overview

New Alpha UI a huge focus on Threads or what otherwise was known as "Project Blank" for a long time. This change in UI also introduces a huge new update to LEO token and LEO in general in terms of it's vision. Instead now ALL topics go on LeoFinance and it can be used as a open front end for "genera" anything goes content. However a focus will still be given to finances, crypto, stocks etc like it was founded on. The goal here is to still cater to the masses and their content while still focusing on finances, trading etc which should invite in a large amount of crypto twitter people.

My Thoughts and Actions

Personally for myself until the new UI is out and I get to actively run it through the rigger that it's running smooth and people are going to enjoy it and want to use it I have little reason to promote it myself. The groundwork and the flare needs to be there first. That doesn't however mean I can't gear up for it. Instead I'll be lead capturing for other Hive and Crypto related web3 projects this year to grow a list that can then be used with LeoThreads (The new UI) is ready to onboard users.

I also feel like unique content in which people want to come to LEO and interact with will be important. So if and when content creators are paid to post on the platform it should be for unique content on hive or at least some of it in which their followers will then be encouraged to join and interact with it on LeoFinance only at least for the time of the contract. This creates a exclusivity thing where people will want to join and interact instead of the same content across many platforms and they can pick which they want to interact with.

New Users Power Up System

With LEO tokens currently they are not powered up which means a new user needs to learn and understand that they need to power up leo and perhaps hive as well in order to hold weight in their vote and that they earn curation rewards. That's still a lot to take in and understand for a new user. This brings up the question if a partial amount of LEO should be powered up say 10% or in the case of Hive 50% so there's no real work a user has to do at first to figure it out and how they increase their vote weight. For me I think it should be a setting that's easy to find or a slider where a user can slide it to what percent 0% - 100% they want to power up instantly and by default it's set to 50%. Over time this has it's benefits to brand new users that don't understand the nitty gritty of the program. They start earning curation rewards which they will start to notice and want to learn more about and they will see their vote value is slowly increasing the more they interact in a quality fashion of which they will start exploring and learning how it all works.

As a every day user of hive and LEO I think we lose sight of just how many steps and how much learning and almost like a brain change has to happen to understand powering up, curation rewards and where the money comes from. The other benefit is that we should also see ad revenue (which personally I thought we were suppose to see before the end of 2022) and that ad revenue is going to start being dumped into these accounts as well because of that default 50% power up.

A user after learning more can then decide to reduce the 50% down to 0% if they wish. Or perhaps the first two weeks of the account the 50/50 is set and then resets to 0% something like this for onboarding I think would be huge for creating motivation to learn more and also see numbers start stacking and where they are coming from.

The entire goal here is to yes onboard new users but then get those new users to keep coming back for more content, creating it etc. Money or crypto is not going to be the real driving factor for this. Instead the content created is what will be the driving force with the revenue will be secondary (but not to the content creators)

I absolutely agree with the points posted here. It took a lot for users to learn Hive ways. We cannot expect new users to know all. Onboarding users is very important but it is equally (or more) important to keep them in the platform and keep them motivated to stay. That will be key.

I think, sleep UI is the ask here. We have to come out of the Hive design and start building something only for LeoFinance
