Splinterlands Community Engagement - Two Sets Of Cards, One Battle

(Edited)

Hiya Splinter Enthusiasts, greetings, and welcome to another blog post where I share my Splinterland gaming experience. In my previous post, I hinted at the launch of the long-awaited Conclave Arcana pack, which happened last week, and of course, I'm sure we've all read several blog entries on the pack unravelling.

Needless to say, last week and the current season have been nothing short of good news, and while we celebrated the launch and were fascinated by the awesome cards and their designs, plus mind-blowing new abilities, this season hit us with something spectacular.

In the spirit of the conclave Arcana launch, like the modern format, players are given a free pass to play in the wild format of the game to enjoy the full gaming experience. Before now, one could only access the wild format with a token of 2000DEC, which should be around 1HBD.

I was in luck because I had just bought my spell book and was opportune to utilise the free pass in wild format this season, not to mention the pretty neat Cards I was given from the newly set of cards just launched. You might think Splinterlands is fun, but wait till you purchase a spell book; it's a whole new experience, I tell ya, because then with your wild pass, you could access the wild format where you can play with cards owned by you.

That's not all; in the wild format, you can also rent older cards from different sets and release dates to pair with your own cards. Unlike the modern format, you get to create your team from cards owned or rented.

Aside from renting, you can also buy. Basically, the wild format allows you to build assets in Splinterlands via card ownership, rentals and sales, which strengthens your gaming tactics and also builds your deck.

In exploring the wild format, my cards were already making me proud in the battle Arena, but I needed to spice things up for that wholesome experience, so I included a touch of strength from the Chaos Legion set by making use of Djinn Oshannus. At the point of rentals, I couldn't get any listing from the Rebellion sets, which was quite expected as focus will now be on the two most recent sets: Conclave Arcana and Chaos Legion.

While I went through the cards listing in conclave Arcana, I saw Djin and, seeing how powerful his stats are, I decided to see how it pairs nicely with my summoner Gorgug the Endless and other monsters from its bloodline, such as Steppe Stalker and Virid Venomance.

I'd still be on the lookout for some rebellion card listing because I want to experience having an awesome combo of cards from the Chaos Legion, Rebellion, plus the Conclave Arcana set in battle. I'm certain that my team will be unstoppable.

Now, let's see how my cards paired nicely with Djinn Oshannus in the battle Arena.

FORMATION

All my cards for this battle complement my aggressive and defensive strategy. For starters, the bloodline Orc has the enraged ability, which makes all link monsters extra aggressive in their melee attack as they gain an extra 50% melee attack power plus speed when not in full health.

For this battle, my choice of link monsters had no melee attack power, so they couldn't really benefit from my Enrage ability of my Archon. So to further strengthen my formation line, I introduced Djinn Oshannus.

The battle came with a low manna cost of 27, and there were not many options to work with. So I placed Steppe Stalker in first position, because it has the close range ability and would be highly effective there, dealing damage to the enemy tank.

As support to Steppe, I paired with Djinn, with a magic ability whose health is not only solid 10,, but it also has a good amount of speed. Not only that, but with his void ability, he's almost immune to magic attacks, and monsters with low speed can't deal much damage to him. This monster plays a great support role to the rest monsters in my team who were not as strong.

For the last position, I placed Virid Venomance, whose magic ability paired nicely with that of Djinn. Together, they dealt significant damage to the enemy's tanks.

All my cards had a high mana cost, and they did me proud as against my opponent, who went for a much lower mana cost card.

I didn't speak on rewards because right now I just want to explore and see what the end of the season holds for me.
