SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DRAGONS!
So everyone's favorite. Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge - Dragons is back. It will be my first time writing about it so I am gradually exhausting the Dragon Monsters I can talk about, well, not really, there are still a ton. 😁 This time I have decided to showcase a battle involving a Dragon, which is actually mechanical - the Robo-Dragon Knight. It is an absolute tanking powerhouse in my humble opinion. Of course such power comes at a price - 11 mana is a really significant amount.
Now before getting into the stats discussion of the Monster, let's have a sneak peek into its LORE
By the looks of it, this Dragon is truly a bad-ass invention which every army can benefit hugely from. Thankfully it is on the side of the good guys (or are they?!😬)
Alright, we've got some idea of what the Robo-Dragon Knight is, after glancing at its lore. Let us have a look at its stats and abilities at different key levels now.
- Having in mind that it is a Legendary Monster, the Dragon starts off with 2 abilities at level 1 - Void and Divine Shield. Coupled with the its 8 armor and 9 health, it comes well prepared for all sorts of attacks right out of the mechanical dragon factory.
- At level 2 it gains an additional Melee Attack point for a total of 4, and an additional ability - Piercing (if melee or ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's armor, the remainder will damage the target's health) which is actually great for attacking the enemy's tanks
- At level 3 which is the level for Gold, it gains yet another ability - Return Fire (when hit with a ranged attack, monsters with return fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker). So yet again another great defensive ability for doing some extra damage to the enemy's backline. The Monster also gains an additional health point at this level for a total of 10.
- Finally maxxed out at level 4 the Monster has 5 Attack, 3 Speed, 8 Armor and 10 Health, and also gains a 5th ability - Magic Reflect. So now not only does it return ranged projectiles back at the enemy's ranged attackers but it also reflects spell damage back to the enemy's casters - what more could you expect from a well-rounded tank such as the Robo-Dragon Knight.
Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.
Note: I don't won dragon cards.
Battle
The ruleset for this battle is Healed Out (no healing allowed) and Explosive Weaponry (all Monsters get the Blast Ability which does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster), and its mana restriction is pretty loose - 54. So this is a great opportunity for me to deploy our Mechanical Dragon friend on its first mission - Seek & Destr.. erm.. Protect, I mean Protect.😝 As already discussed in the previous section, it has a great tanking toolkit even at level 2 (Silver is my personal playground).
The 2nd place in the line-up goes to a Monster I have already blogged about (you can find the link at the bottom of the page), namely the Carnage Titan. It's currently the best off-tank in the game due to its Reach and Double Strike abilities. You can never go wrong if you pair the Carnage Titan with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Who says Fireworks are only cool on NY's Eve.
The 3rd place in the line-up goes to the Chaos Dragon. Another Monster who can be a potential MVP and also which I have a dedicated blog about (link at the same place). This Dragon is an actual real Dragon (surprising, I know 😃) but it's stats are great for the occasion, even though it already has an explosive attack at level 2, it is a good fit for the overall setup.
It is time for a quick round by round analysis:
So the Summoner I am going with for this battle is a rented level 2 Thaddius Brood the one and only Dragon Summoner I use. On the other hand it has turned out I am playing against no other than the Blinding Reflector , Sunkai Harvester, coming straight from Japan to show me how it's done. His Summoner of choice is a level 3 Byzantine Kitty. However, the issue I see straight off the bat is not the summoner he is using but the level 2 Stitch Leech with its Reflection Shield ability, right next to his Dark Halon, in the last spot, with taunt and scavenger. This effectively means that all splash damage from my ranged attacks, drawn in by the taunt Monster, will be negated. One Blinding Reflector will win this battle but it might not be mine.
After 1 round, both line-ups have not suffered any losses yet. So it is still hard to tell who has an advantage at this point. I damage opposite side 2 cards.
At the start of Round 2 I have managed to take down Blinding Reflector and Sunkai Harvester but as we can see from the screen shot below taken a moment after the beginning of Round 2, my Stitch Leech is a goner as well. I damage opposite side 1 more card.
Round 3 and both teams have 3 Monsters left on the battlefield. However, the enemy's advantage is glaringly obvious. I damage opposite side 1 cards.
The Blinding Reflector is a fantastic tank for the Dragon Splinter. I'll stick to renting it though. Definitely worth throwing it in any battle with a large mana pool. I cannot think of an occasion where you might go wrong with that.
And Finally I win the Splinterlands Battle game.
