Splinterlands Battle Weekly Challenge
Hello Splinterlands players, how are you?
And here we are again, another week, for another amazing battle challenge.
So let's talk a little bit about this week's challenge, the theme, the team, the learnings and what the outcome was.
This week's theme is "ELVEN CUTTHROAT".
The card chosen for this week's challenge is usually very used by players in the Bronze league. I have used it and continue to use it in several battles because of its characteristics and its adaptation to several battles due to its low mana cost.
Elven Cutthroat is a very common card, being even a "starter card", meaning that you can use it even without owning a copy of it.
At its initial level the card has only one mellee attack, which is certainly not much, only one life, not having much resistance, but 3 speed and costing only 3 mana.
In addition the card has by default the ability sneak, which makes it, in its attack, hit the last enemy of the opposing team instead of the monster that is in first position.
In its later lifts the card doesn't receive any additional ability, just increasing its amount of life, speed and attack, not having armor at any level.
My current battle status is 1,197 rating and I'm in the "Bronze II" league, so those are the characteristics of the Battle Weekly Challenge, and the choice of battle rules was as follows:
As you can see my opponent, of his last 5 battles, has used the water team in 4 of them, I also believe that the choice of the death team must have been by some battle rule.
So the probability of facing a water team was very high.
So, I decided to choose a team with resistance to magic, being able to place a tank that would reduce the magic damage of my opponent, so I chose the death team with the following composition:
Cursed Summerbal: To suffer the first magic attack.
Bone Golem: For its void ability, reducing the magic damage suffered.
Maggots: To try to eliminate one of the opponent's monsters.
Undead Priest: To reduce the life of the opposing team.
Venari Bonesmith: A magic damage that increases your life as it damages the enemy.
Elven Cutthroat: In the last position with his sneak ability.
So the battle beggins.
Round 1:
As I imagined the opposing team was a water team, and was composed of Frozen Soldier, Pirate Captain, Medusa, Ice Pixie and Water elemental.
The opposing team's first attack was from the Water Elemental, which eventually defeated my cursed summerbal, then the Elven Cutthro attacked the Water Elementa dealing 1 damage to it.
Venari Bonesmith attacked the frozen soldier, leaving him with 1 life, and later, to my surprise, Maggotsattacked and missed the frozen, I thought the target would be the ice pixie.
Round 2:
The second round started in the same order as the first round, with Frozen Soldier being defeated by my Venari Bonesmith attack, causing Pirate Captain to come to the first position which, right away, was defeated by my bone golem attack.
In the end Maggots once again missed his attack, this time on the Ice Pixie, something tells me that this could be costly.
Round 3:
At the beginning of the third round I was very confident, because I had already defeated 2 opponent cards and had lost only the cursed summerbal.
However, right at the beginning, the bone golem did not resist the water elemental attack and the maggots were defeated by the Ice Pixie, so my first card became the undead priest, which certainly did not resist the medusa's attack.
And by the end of the round, my sense of optimism had passed as I realized that the situation had become very complicated this round.
Round 4:
There was not much that could be done, because my opponent had more cards and more damage than me, which would make the battle doomed to defeat, and Venari was defeated in this round.
Round 5:
Nothing to do, just wait for defeat.
This is the end of the line for me.
Even though I was defeated, I liked the battle because it was a total turnaround, because at first I thought I was well on my way, and in just one round, everything changed.
I believe that if Maggots had not missed his two attacks, especially the one that failed against the Ice Pixie, since this card would have been defeated, the result would certainly have been different and the victory would have been mine.
Therefore, as I said before, Elven Cutthroat is a good card that I use and intend to continue using to compose my teams.
Thank you for reading.
