Will you open or stake your packs now?
My conversations with pokermaria are always enlightening, as I always learn new insights or get a different view. Recently, we talked about Genesis League Goals, with regards to the progress of the launch of the game and it was once again an eye opener for me.
The whitepaper discusses a host of aspects of the game at launch but doesn't offer specifics. However, it is safe to say that the game will not necessarily deviate from what was promised in the whitepaper.
I am slowly coming to grips with the game mechanics and what to expect. I like the way things are shaping up and it really looks like I am going to be playing the game, after all.
My original plan was actually to sitout the game and watch from the sidelines, as things unfold. However, considering how the game is going to be, I might as well play.
Pokermaria pointed out that, unlike Splinterlands, Genesis League Goals cards will not necessarily be combined to upgrade them. Instead, the cards will upgrade based on Experience Points from using them in matches.
Hodl or open?
Another thing that Pokermaria brought to my attention was the future price dynamic of packs and cards. What we know for sure is that the packs that are available now are going to be the equivalent of alpha packs in Splinterlands, so we can expect them to be pretty expensive in the future.
The current set of cards coming out of the packs are also going to be like alpha monsters in Splinterlands. I don't think these ones will actually be called "alpha" cards, I reckon the collection will have its own unique name.
I reckon that the cards that investors are getting now are going to have some unique features and will stand out in the future. Most of them will have high XP due to being around for a long time and will invariably be the most expensive of the lot.
So, what we know for sure is that both the cards and the packs will be more expensive in the future. So, for the time being, perhaps it might be better to just hold on to the packs in your possession.
I believe the deciding factor is what you earn from staking packs at the moment. The GLX you're mining from pack staking can in turn be staked to earn more GLX and GLGT that Maria has also stressed on numerous occasions will be a scarce and has the potential to be quite pricey in the future.
I have opened 11 packs already and this has led to a growing collection of cards that in some way could be looked at as diversifying. The fact that the price of a card could randomly pump and I miss out because I was staking would definitely hurt.
I also suspect that the fact that the cards are made in the likeness of actual footballers in the MLS means that it is possible the maket's perception of the said cards will be influenced by real life events. This is yet another reason why I think it is right to at least open some packs and start accumulating tradable cards.

I have decided to open only 10 and will keep the other 100 packs staked until the rewards are over.

Nice. I think I'm going to start buying packs with the GLX I farm. I currently have 82 packs staked, I want to get to 100 and then open like 20 more packs.

i didnt find many people who started to open packs in mass.
May I ask have you already oopened some of your packs??? if so, did you get all the cards???
I just opened today 15. And instead of receiving 5 cards/pack, 75 cards total, I got only 68 cards. Don't mention, only 8 is gold, and only 1 coach. and also, I bought 75 scout pass, too. the scout passes are gone, all 75, so really dont understand why did i get only 68 cards...
any idea???

I'm going to open 10 packs right now. I'll check and see if everything is alright.
I opened my packs. I have opened 11 in total, and it shows that I have 52 cards in total, but 3 of them I have twice, which sums up to 55. So everything is cool. Check if you have a small 2x in some of the cards.

do you know anything about the SWAP.HIVE:GLX pool? (does it pay automatically or do i have to claim somewhere the rewards?) just wanna get in everything regarding gls, glg, and that's the last part at the moment, but i dont find anything about glx pool.
do you know maybe a post which generally details it?

:) i got my part, too. I am kinda newbie here, I didn't get involved in SP (yet), i had no idea how the combining can work in practice. Now checked out how it works there, so I can have an approx. cards number what I should hold for that purpose in GLG.
I wanted to ask: is there still ongoing pack staking in Splinterlands? (i didnt find.) I know, it is different, but in dCrops, by holding packs generate some kinda staking rewards, directly in Hive (approx. 30packs=0.1 HIVE / day)
another factor what i would count in, how many more packs i need from this season, before the sale ends.
I got the boosters, but i did not open any pack yet. I try with 10 at first to see if i am pleased with the results.
It's hard to even know what is pleasing and what is not at least until the marketplace opens
just thinking that increasing the chance of gold and legendary helps, no? whatever they are called in here.
