Slow Splinterlands Season

This has been one of the slower and more stressful seasons of my Splinterlands career. From time to time, I find myself in this weird mental place that makes participating in SPlinterlands battles quite difficult.

It is not for the want of trying, it is just that I'm exhausted, mentally. It hasn't been easy adjusting to my new normal and I'm not just solely talking about the bear market.

Generally speaking, things in Nigeria are messed up right now and the situation seems to be deteriorating as we get closer to the election. Right now, it feels like the country is in free fall and there's nothing underneath to cushion our fall.

Every day, there's bad news from every corner and sometimes I fear that it is getting closer to home. I worry about when it will affect me or my loved ones. I hope it never happens.

Anyway, other than the security issues that are too depressing and deserve a separate ranting post, I've also been struggling with electricity. We use to have up to 20 hours of electricity every day but these days, we'd be lucky if we get 7 hours.

The "national grid" keeps crashing and not for any other reason but poor management. There's not been any natural disaster or unexpected event, it just crashes because people don't want to do their jobs.

This lack of electricity has contributed to the things bothering me mentally. Yes, I can play SPlinterlands in my phone but I generally thrive when there's electricity. I don't think I'm asking for too much.

Even right now, I'm drafting this publication in a poorly lit room because there's no electricity and my laptop screen is the only source of light.

These travails aren't particular to me though, virtually everyone in Nigeria is experiencing this right now. Even in this circumstance, we always try to be productive in our own field.

In other news

There are only 35 days of the SPS airdrop left and I can't stop thinking about what this could mean for Splinterlands assets as a whole.

I remember the initial FOMO the airdrop led to, and how NFTS, DEC and virtually everything associated with Splinterlands spiked aggressively. These days, everything is much cheaper than it used to be during the SPS hype.

As the SPS airdrop comes to an end, I reckon that we'll see even more SPS tokens staked, thereby leading to a supply crunch that could have a positive impact on the price.

As I see it, beyond the airdrop, there will be two major ways to earn SPS; through Validators license or staking SPS token. Either way, SPS is taken off the market, so that should lead to a decent pump in the value of the token.

At the current price of SPS, not buying a bit more feels like a missed opportunity. Squeezing out $56 to buy 1000 SPS seems like a lot to me right now, but it'll be absolutely worth it when SPS hits $1 and I pretty much 20X the investment.
