Opening Chaos Legion pack is a waste of pack
For the first time in a long time, I opened Chaos Legion packs and just as usual, I was met with great disappointment. After this disappointment, I have decided that I will never open another chaos legion pack again.
Don't get me wrong, Chaos Legion has a decent collection pf monsters that could upgrade your deck's battling proficiency. However, in the market, it is a completely different story.
I thought that due to the fact that Chaos legion packs were scarce, I might get some luck in the draw but it didn't turn out that way. Instead, I was met with great disappointment with the draw and a timely reminder of why I should have never even bothered opening the packs in the first place.
I had 9 Chaos Legion packs just lying around in one of my dormant Hive accounts. I totally forgot there were packs there but yesterday, while I was doing a scan of all my assets, I found them.
I also found a bit over 950 SPS tokens just lying around and I staked it for 21% APR in Splinterlands. Anyway, at the time of finding the packs, they were worth a bit over $19 according to Hive-engine.
Instead of just holding or selling on the market, I caved into my pack opening addiction and ended up opening all of them. To my dismay, the total market value of the monsters in 9 packs came out to be worth a tiny bit more than $6.
Never again
I know I have said this many times but this time, it is for real and I will not cave into my addiction, no matter how tempting it gets. Opening Chaos Legion packs is simply not worth it for me because I have taken a break from playing.
Assuming I was a regular player, I reckon it would have made more sense since I'd technically be earning SPS and soul-bound assets with a future value from playing. Things are a bit different these days as I'm no longer playing, so there's really no need to be accumulating monsters through opening packs.
In fact, this observation about the value you get from opening packs doesn't only stop at Chaos Legion packs. I have noticed that even with Rift Watcher Gems, you will hardly find monsters that are even remotely close to the market value of each gem you open.
Just as with Chaos Legion packs though, it is about the long game and with the said monster, you can earn passively through ranked battles, tournaments and rentals. However, if you're not playing and plan to flip assets, then you're better off just speculating the price of packs by buying low and selling high on Hive-engine, like you would with any other token.

Yeah all these different games want you to play them and I'm just having a couple of different priorities other than playing games all the time. Well having to buy into play these games...
Awesome post!
I wish I had the time and energy but I'm just not mentally there and right now, at least, I have other priorities that necessitate selling my assets
I absolutely hear you and whenever you're ready let me know.
I also have 12 Chaos Legion Packs that I earned from chests. I neither sell nor open them. I hope someday they will be worth more.
Yes, don't bother opening them. Just hold them or trade them on Hive-engine.
I still tend to open mine hoping for more useful cards to level up. My last five have yielded maybe thirty cents a piece, some I may just start collecting them rather than opening them when I pull them out of dailies and eos.
