Prologue
I'm not a big land owner, but I did get my 5 plots in order to a) get my warden title and with that 5% on my battle SPS and Glint and b) be able to produce all 4 resources - 2x Grain, and one for each Wood, Ore and Stone. With the upgrade coming up, I'm both a bit afraid (it took me quite a while to understand land as it is, and now there's ramification to make it more complex? Oh boy...) and quite excited (new things to learn, new ways to use land, more depth to that part of the game!). It was the same with the survival mode (Here's my post about adventuring into Survival Mode), and in the end, the experience there was really good - so, I trust the SPL team to do another great job and improve the game yet again.
My Land so far
The river in Baxdon is inactive until now, it will produce grain as soon as I activate it - the farm came included with the purchase. That was on purpose, it's very likely that I will activate it later, as I explain below.
Another grain production will stay in la'telda, the bog. That one I have with already the highest production in order to see if it's enough to provide grain for the others, if I keep those on lower production. Until now, I have 2 shard mines in each active territory, which will soon cost ore, wood and stone to mine.
What to focus on
As all resourced plus research plus Shard Mines will consume grain, I think that grain will be the most important resource from now on. That's why I have two plots for grain, of which currently only one is active - but I'm hoarding DEC to get the other one running, maybe one or two weeks into 1.75. That will give me time to figure out what exactly I can do there.
There is some balance in the production, though, as one can see in the production rates per hour:
📊 Production Rates Per Production Point Per Hour:
• Grain – 0.02 (unchanged)
• Wood – 0.005
• Stone – 0.002
• Iron – 0.0005
[Quote from the original post linked below in the text]
They're basically ranked from "most common" to "most scarce". It also shows in this picture from the original land 1.75 announcement:
That shows that production is similar as cost. Wood cost is half the grain cost, Stone cost is 40% of the wood cost (or 20% of grain cost), Ore is 20% of stone or 10% of wood or 5% of grain. As you can see, though, the grain production is higher. Wood production is only 25% of grain, so one produces more grain than necessary - not! Keep in mind that grain is required for the other resources. So, in the end, it will even out.
In order to start production, I will just change each of the Shard Mines to the respective resource-building, which will take a while since I don't have my workers at full production.
Which strategy for the future?
After switching the Shard Mines to resources, I have two options. I can either see if I get one more plot to build a new Shard mine on (or use the inactive that I have, if the bog produces enough grain) to combine all resources for SPS, or if I become a "Trading-Pool-Player" and make gains more passively by producing resources that other players need, and adding them to the respective trading pools.
For the SPS, I will need to ship the resources between territories, which is kind of difficult. It works via trading pools, but with a 30 day delay. I already have a lot of grain in my trading pool, hopefully enough to buy me 30 days. The pool-transport works like this: I produce the resourced in one territory, and give them into the trading pool. After 30 days, I can remove them without any fee - to any region. So, after staking them for 30 days, I can basically Scotty them to where they are needed. As I'm not a whale nor big, I have to be very conservative with my resources, so that's the best way for me to do things.
Will I buy more assets for land?
Buying more cards or plots is always an option, especially if I get my hands on cheap ones (cards that fit my plots, or plots that fit the territories I'm already in). I'm saving up for Conclave Arcane and Tofu right now, so I'm hesitant to spend any more DEC on the land project - for now. I might up my production points in the future, if it seems like Land will be adding a value to my game-play. One thing that was announced are the "Revive"-Potions for Survival-Mode - those could come in handy. Then again, it is very likely that my stake in land is way too small to even get my hands on those. I barely got the Warden title, and when I make 14 SPS in a week, I'm happy 😅
But considering that I can make around 200 SPS in one season in the Survival mode, cheap potions might be worth it. Until now, the best investment keeps being a card-trade-bot. But Splinterlands is not an investment for me - if Land will bring me a extra portion of fun, I will consider buying more assets there, too.
