How one maxed summoner makes the difference

Prologue
A couple of weeks ago I was scrolling through my "want to buy list" and saw an Akane with 8 CC for sale. Those who play for a while know that 8 CC is a weird one for a Legend - 6 CC is level 3, 11 CC is level 4 aka max level. But 8 CC?
8 CC was perfect. I took it as a hint of destiny, as I only had this card at level 2 - 3 CC. And what is 8 + 3? Max level. Nice math! I had been a little frustrated since I had the luck to pull and trade quite a few amazing black foil cards, but was never able to play them with their full power.

Especially the Mudbinder was gnawing on me. That heal is just way too handy in poison or earthquake rules. And placing it behind the Silverblade Knight with it's Armor Strike? Exciting extra damage!
So, I made an investment into my game-play, skipped Lorkus and went for my first modern maxed summoner.

Was it worth it?
Well, have a look:

And yes, that's a selected screen - I still lose quite a few battles, though I have Akane. I have almost no other modern card maxed, just the BF and Reward. The rest is around Advances/Gold level. Still, I managed to fight my way up into Diamond 2 quite quickly. This is from a day after buying Akane (Click here for the battle link):

The Herald did two executions, a skill it gets at max level - so without Akane, that wouldn't have happened. The Scout at max gets heal, which is also useful as it resists longer.

And now?
As I have gotten used to the availability of my maxed cards, my game-play seems to have improved, too. Here are two pretty awesome battles that I'd like to share with you. What you will see is that many people use Akane as maxed summoner, as she is legendary, not very expensive and has decent abilities for 5 mana.
Continuum Seer & Cindergrim
I always wanted to play this card as maxed, as it's superior speed, phase and backfire are amazing, especially in "Equalizer Rulesets". The Cindergrim is my only Arcane card, and it felt SO good to finally play it.

With 14.927 SPS, that was my highest win so far! And in a really cool battle.

Full Magic Jacket
In this one, I take full advantage of my Conclave Artificer. I train it with Rage, and it keeps my Night Reaper from taking too much damage from Bren. As a bonus, it reduces all the enemy's ambush damage to 1. Pretty awesome little creature. The triple-trained Sevaya is pretty scary, but luckily, it's not a Melee Mayhem.

I only have Nalara at Level 2, but with Amplify it gives the Dark Arborist some extra counter-damage-capacity. The maxed Smith and Rage at 3 were hard to bring down, it was good I brought the Reaper.

Conclusion
Being able to take most advantage of my Black foils was totally worth it. And it motivates me to keep my eyes peeled for more good deals in those. The great thing about Akane is that as long as Dragon is enabled, I can play all the other splinters, too. That makes this card a lot more versatile than maxing out the rare CA summoners, which are currently even more expensive than a maxed Akane.
As for her abilities, the Ambush is nice, but not the most important part. The abilities of my maxed cards are way more game changing.
So, in conclusion, this really was a good buy. Sometimes a single card, though expensive, can make a big enough difference.
Do you have a card like that?
One that changes your game-play, the go-to whenever possible? That you get kind of frustrated that you can't play it 3 battles in a row? Would love to read your stories!

I didn't know there's a community for it, I was about to suggest you to check out Hive gaming 😄 It looks like you're well-invested into the game and your excitement showed!
Oh, Splinterlands is what eventually brought me to Hive 😅 I started the came a few years ago, wasn't very active, but 2 years ago I gave it another try and got completely sucked into it. It's a lot of fun for me, given the strategic depth 🙃

Keep thinking I should max out one summoner, just can’t decide which one, Akane is a really good option although by the time I get around to it the CA summoners will probably be all out 😂
Akane is the cheapest modern summoner at the moment, as maxed. But it's still $100. The bad thing is that once you have 1 maxed summoner, you get more depth of the game, and want more :-D It's really hard to stop then...
Yeah, perhaps I should just stay at silver level…
So many things to do in the game!
