A Coffee Bond

I will always say that I love to have my coffee alone. The fact that taking it alone has become a part of me because I get enough time to think about myself and have my activities planned out. I take that alone time as the period where I get to do so much meditation. I usually say that the period for my coffee consumption is my yoga time as I just spend that time alone. The fact that I love having my coffee alone doesn’t rule out the possibility of me having a coffee friend who I also enjoy having coffee with.

In my country it is really difficult finding someone who loves coffee or who is ready to go out on a coffee date, just sit and have a lovely time while sharing a cup of coffee. Most of my friends will prefer going for ice cream dates or maybe seeing the movies and sharing popcorn alongside. They would always say that coffee is not their thing and I understand as everyone has their different opinions about several things.

I found my coffee friend when I was in a Tertiary institution. We have been friends for a long time though. We have several things in common and we were also study buddies since we were studying the same course in school. Most times we would meet in school for our late-night reading and then we always had a cup of coffee because it helped us stay awake and cover a lot. Several times we have gotten questions like “What do you both enjoy from coffee?” We would just laugh and then still stick to having coffee while we study instead of drinking soda.

I had to relocate to another state for a year due to my Service to my country as a graduate, so we haven’t had coffee together for a long time and I became used to the act of having my coffee all by myself. I would sometimes talk to her over the phone and she would tell me about her coffee ordeal and how she tried out a new coffee and the taste was amazing. There is something great about my friend She loves exploring different coffee. I have been stuck to one coffee for as long as I can remember, but my friend is ready to explore new coffee products and also new coffee equipment.

When I returned home after my Service year and I visited her, I was so shocked to see her coffee collections. It was beautiful because it consisted of different types of coffee and she kept the empty packs so she could remember what it tasted like. My friend has a story about every coffee she has tasted. When I got back I realized that there is a new coffee shop in my state already.

We decided to set a day out to visit it and honestly, the environment was beautiful, even though they sell other drinks and different kinds of food and snacks, I was pretty excited that there was a place that sells coffee and the ambiance is beautiful. When we got there, I was super excited I got to experience this place with my coffee friend. I was even excited she waited till I came back so we could both visit this place.

Taking coffee alone is great for me and makes me relax but when I have my coffee friend with me, I feel like there’s an additional taste that comes with my coffee. We take our coffee and then we chat about several things. I think sharing coffee has always been a building force in our friendship. Cheers to more coffee and a long friendship🥂
