WE113 - Because it's Me

One of the questions we are asked this time in the Weekend Engagement could definitely be a challenge for one or the other. At least it is for me.
I'm not the "elevator bitch" type who can tell you in a nutshell what it is that I actually can do very well. But I also have a hard time saying it within the 500 words required.

So at first I thought: No! This is not a topic for me. But then I remembered what I learned from @jongolson at one of the CTP talks a few weeks ago.
Be a "brand" is one of the mottos you often hear in CTP. But I didnt really understand that for a long time, I'm not a coke or a jeans or a cell phone brand, I always thought to myself.
So I just asked how I was supposed to understand it, and the very simple answer was:

"Just be yourself, your being is what makes "your brand". Engage where it brings you joy and write about the things that interest you.
THAT is your brand."

And with this statement we are already in the middle of the difference between SocialMedia 2.0 (Influencers) and SocialMedia 3.0 (Leaders), which is very well expressed here on our Hive Chain.
I think the old model of people only showing their best sides has finally had its day. Here on Hive, people just like it when you are who you are.
Glossy SocialMedia 2.0 perfectionism is out, "just be yourself" is the order of the day.
I've seen a lot of people who end up here with their perfect SocialMedia2.0 posts and can't get a foothold despite (or because of) all their professionalism.

This doesn't mean that we shouldn't work on our skills and strive to improve ourselves, quite the opposite. I think only when a person is really himself, he can rise to peak performance.

So let's see what you can find in my postings in general:

Here on my profile it goes quite mixed up with the topics, also this is "only" a mirror of my life, that I have so many interests.

  • Of course you always find some delicious recipes
  • Then there are photos and stories from my garden, about flowers, butterflies and what else is crawling around there.
  • The next one could be a Shadow Hunter posting, because I am addicted to the various shadows you see all around, once you saw them.
  • Then once in a while, maybe a #thoughtfuldailypost, when I have found a topic to think about. Well, topics to think about I have daily, in fact more topics then time ;-) it's in my blood, but I don't always write a post about them.
  • Other times there can be found one of my colorful drawings.
  • Or I explain something about the Ecency frontend, because I also like to help.
    Sometimes I also write stories.
  • Music! Music has always played a very big role in my life and you'll find one or the other post about it every now and then.
  • Or I jump, like now in one of the numerous interesting contest topics, which you can find on Hive.

As you can see, everything is completely jumbled, but all these posts have one thing in common and that's me. My world through my eyes that I would like to bring you closer to, that I just love to write about and take photos of to share with the world.

Einfach ich halt

Die Frage, die uns in der Weekend Engagement diesmal gestellt wird, könnte für den ein oder anderen bestimmt eine Herausforderung sein. Zumindest für mich ist sie es.
Ich bin nicht der „Elevator Bitch“ Typ, der dir kurz und bündig sagen kann, was er eigentlich alles gut macht. Ich kann das aber auch schwierig in den verlangten 500 Worten sagen.

Zuerst dachte ich also: Nein! Das ist kein Thema für mich. Aber dann fiel mir ein, was ich vor ein paar Wochen bei einem der CTP talks von @jongolson gelernt hatte. Sei eine „Brand“, eine „Marke“ ist eines der Mottos, die man in CTP oft hört. Ich konnte damit aber lange Zeit nichts anfangen, ich bin ja keine Cola oder keine Jeans oder keine Handymarke dachte ich mir immer.
Also habe ich einfach gefragt, wie ich das denn verstehen soll, und die sehr einfache Antwort war:

„Sei einfach du selbst, dein Sein ist es was „deine Marke“ ausmacht. Engagiere dich, dort wo es dir Freude bereitet und schreibe über die Dinge die dich interessieren. DAS ist deine Marke“

Und mit dieser Aussage sind wir auch schon mitten im Unterschied zwischen SocialMedia 2.0 (Influencern) und SocialMedia 3.0 (Leadern), was besonders auf unserer Hive Chain sehr ausgeprägt ist.
Ich denke das alte Modell von Menschen, die sich nur von ihren besten Seiten zeigen hat endgültig ausgedient. Hier auf Hive mögen es die Leute einfach, wenn du so bist wie du eben bist.
Hochglanz SocialMedia 2.0 Perfektionismus ist out, „just be yourself“ ist angesagt.
Ich habe schon viele Menschen gesehen, die mit ihren perfekten SocialMedia2.0 Beiträgen hier landen und trotz (oder wegen) aller Professionalität keinen Fuß fassen können.

Das soll jetzt nicht heißen, dass wir hier nicht auch an unseren Skills arbeiten und nicht danach trachten sollen, uns zu verbessern, ganz im Gegenteil. Ich denke, erst wenn ein Mensch wirklich er selbst ist, kann er zu Höchstleistungen aufsteigen.

Also lasst uns mal sehen, was ihr in meinen Postings im allgemeinen so finden könnt:

Hier geht es ziemlich durcheinander mit den Themen, auch das ist „nur“ ein Spiegel meines Lebens.

  • Es gibt immer wieder einmal leckere Rezepte
  • Dann gibt es Photos und Geschichten aus meinem Garten, über Blumen, Schmetterlinge und was da sonst noch herumkrabbelt
  • Als nächstes ein Shadow Hunter Posting, denn das Schatten Jagen macht wirklich süchtig, wenn man einmal damit begonnen hat.
  • Dann mal einen Thoughtfuldaily Post, wenn ich ein Thema zum Nachdenken gefunden habe. Nun, Themen zum Nachdenken habe ich täglich, das liegt mir im Blut, aber nicht immer schreibe ich auch einen Artikel über diese Themen.
  • Ein anderes mal gibt es eine meiner bunten Zeichnungen.
  • Oder ich erkläre etwas über das Ecency Frontend, weil ich auch gerne helfe.
  • Manchmal schreibe ich auch Geschichten.
  • Musik! Musik spielt immer schon eine sehr große Rolle in meinem Leben und dazu findet sich auch immer wieder mal der ein oder andere Beitrag.
  • Oder ich hüpfe, so wie jetzt in eines der zahlreichen interessanten Contest Themen, die man auf Hive finden kann.

Ihr seht schon, alles völlig durcheinander gewürfelt, aber all diese Postings haben einen gemeinsamen Nenner und das bin ich. Meine Welt durch meine Augen, die ich euch gerne näher bringen möchte, über die ich einfach sehr gerne schreibe und Fotos aufnehme, um sie mit der Welt zu teilen.

Das mit den "Schatten-Jagen" ist mir auch schon aufgefallen, dass du da deinen Spaß dran hast... war mir allerdings noch recht neu :-)

Ja, das is so eine Sache mit den Schatten. Ich hab da früher nie drauf geachtet, aber durch die Shadow Hunter Contests hier hat sich das verändert und jetzt fallen sie mir plötzlich überall auf. ;-) wir leben in einer Schatten welt weil wir auch so viel schönes Licht haben !LUV

You pretty much sum up my being here as well, Bee, but I guess you knew that already, right? Well, I just don't seem to have the time or energy or je ne sais quoie as you do - do you have a daytime job? It doesn't matter, I do like the diversity.

I did think of doing a post on this topic myself but - I got hung up on other things, like a ShadowHunter post which I haven't done in ages, and the story for Dreemport which I botched the timing on - sigh - well, but that's part of being me.

Ah yes! Two great hymns of my youth.
First I was afraid I was justified... hmmm summ summ..
Ich bin im home office und kann mir alles frei einteilen. Aber ich denke, die Zeit für meine hive Aktivität kommt großteils daher:
Single - keine Kinder - kaum Fernsehen - aufgehört mit fb / insta - UND keine Spiele, zumindest nur ganz wenig. Schon hast du 3 Stunden Zeit die andere nicht haben.
Ah ja und ich lese weniger seit ich hier bin, was das einzige ist das schade ist.

I love finding people who are passionate about what they do, being themselves. In fact you are right a blog can be varied but what defines you is your unique way of seeing the world. I don't speak English, I use a translator, I understand very few things about the language, but I identified so much with your writing.

The "be yourself" in Social Media 2.0 is like saying be yourself in the alternate reality. Mostly full of perfectionists and fakes that only wants attention and fame.

🤣 Never heard of the expression "elevator bitch". That is quite funny, but I guess a deliberate deviation from "elevator pitch".
