Where one my personal favorite looking units the Underboss Fabino takes part in the Gobson family.
This shadowy figure will be part of my extended tale about his history and his "hobby"

Fabino, known for keeping the wheels turning beneath the Gobson boss’s rule, Fabino has a more complex story than most realize—one that involves artistry, smuggling, and unexpected alliances.

A Hidden Talent of Fabino

As Underboss, Fabino managed operations the boss couldn’t be bothered with: collecting debts, disciplining wayward soldiers, and ensuring the captains paid their proper shares.
But beyond these day-to-day duties, Fabino held a secret passion—painting.

In a cramped attic studio above a pawnshop in New Gobson, he transformed vibrant pigments into sweeping landscapes and surreal portraits. The streets below whispered that the Underboss was “cultured.” Yet none guessed that, hidden within the frames and backing of each painting, Fabino concealed vials of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC).

It was a clever scheme. Paintings passed from buyer to buyer drew no suspicion in a world where the Gobson Family’s reputation hinged on brute force and intimidation.
Through his art, Fabino quietly funneled resources to those who needed them—sometimes allies, sometimes rivals willing to pay for the family’s contraband.
He prided himself on this elegant solution, a subtle twist in a city where power usually moved on the edge of a blade.

A Risky Deal, long time ago

In his early smuggling days, Fabino overreached. Attempting to slip a large shipment of DEC into the Kingdom of Grimbardun, he underestimated their vigilance. Guards discovered his cargo, and the Underboss found himself trapped under the stern gaze of Captain Grimbardun Smith. Fabino expected a swift and severe punishment, but Smith surprised him. Instead of executing the goblin on the spot, he offered Fabino a seat and a cup of bitter tea.

They spoke through the night, each probing the other’s intentions. Smith, no fool, recognized that the Gobson Family’s reach was long and cunning. He saw value in forging a careful agreement rather than declaring war. By dawn, a compact had been formed: Fabino would limit his shipments, maintaining a delicate balance that allowed both sides to profit. Smith’s men would “overlook” the occasional painting shipment, while Fabino ensured no chaos threatened Grimbardun’s borders. It was an uneasy alliance but one that worked surprisingly well.

An Artist’s Legacy

In a quiet corner of his attic, Fabino often sat by lamplight, adding final touches to a new piece. He knew his method was risky, but he also understood its power.
By blending artistry with cunning, he ensured the Gobson Family’s influence extended into places muscle alone could not reach. His careful arrangements with Grimbardun and others strengthened the family’s position without drawing dangerous attention.

In the grand labyrinth of Splinterlands politics, Fabino’s subtlety painted a legacy of quiet strength. While most remember the Gobson Family for their forceful methods, a handful of canvases—hanging in distant halls or secret rooms—bear silent testimony to the Underboss who balanced brutality with artistry, forging bonds in brushstrokes and secret compartments.
