Power Combos I Love Lately

Alright folks, it’s been a while since I dropped a battle-focused post. I’ve been neck-deep in land planning and management. That said, I still make time for my guild brawls and squeeze in the occasional modern match, just to keep the reflexes sharp and see what’s cooking in the meta.

Now before I jump in, let me get this out of the way: no Quora Towershead in this blog. I know, I know… she’s been the backbone of many Earth brawl wins for a long time. But lately? I don’t see her dominating like she used to. Whether it’s the natural balance brought in by new sets or just smarter counter-play, she doesn’t feel as oppressive anymore. And that’s a good thing. It means more room for other creative and powerful combos to shine.

So here’s a look at a few combo strategies I’ve come across recently—either from my own matches or from being on the receiving end. I’ve got replay links below if you want to see them in action.

1. The Filthy Scavenger + Bloodline Tribute

I’ve been toying a lot with the Filthy Scavenger, and let me just say—she is filthy in the best possible way. The secret sauce? Her Bloodline Tribute ability.

If you’re unfamiliar, Bloodline Tribute triggers when a unit dies, granting a buff to allies of the same bloodline. That means you want at least two units with the same bloodline, and if you can time a resurrect correctly, you can actually trigger two buffs off one card’s death. Pretty dirty.

Let’s break down a few matches I played using this strategy:

🔥 Match 1: Buff Train Begins

In this battle, the Filthy Scavenger starts already buffed thanks to Lorkus. Later, when she goes down, the buff is passed on to my Dark Arborist, giving it that extra kick to finish off my opponent’s backline. Textbook use of Bloodline Tribute—this is what makes her shine.

💪 Match 2: Didn't Even Need It... Still Won

Funny enough, the Bloodline Tribute never even activated in this match. But the Scavenger got a buff from Lorkus early on, which was more than enough. The extra health and damage gave me the edge, and the match ended before my combo fully triggered. Still, the synergy was strong and helped secure the win.

🌪 Match 3: Shapeshifting Palesworn

This one was fun. Filthy Scavenger gets taken out early and passes the tribute buff onto Bren Palesworn, who then kicks into overdrive with the Shapeshift ability. The added speed and survivability made Bren a nightmare to remove. I love it when a plan comes together.

2. The Painforge Strategy (Work in Progress)

This one is more of a mention than a full-on recommendation—for now. I’ve seen some players pulling off many wins with Painforge, which gives your unit a buff when it takes damage from an ally. Yeah, kind of the reverse of what most people are trying to do.

I’ll be honest: I haven’t quite mastered it yet. This one takes some more manual play. Auto-battling doesn’t always do it justice, and I’m still getting the hang of it. But I can tell there’s huge potential, especially with certain rulesets like Equalizer or Aimless. If anyone has cracked this combo, hit me up—I want to learn from the best.

Final Thoughts: Speed Still Wins Games

As I’ve said countless times in my strategy blogs: speed wins games. It was true in Untamed, it was true in Chaos Legion, and it’s still true today. The ability to land the first hit (or dodge completely) is just so valuable.

That’s why I think the Bloodline Tribute mechanic is valuable. When your unit gains speed, damage, and health all at once—and then passes that on to another unit with a similar statline? You’re setting yourself up for a snowball effect. And if you can combine that with Resurrect!.

Anyway, that’s my little brain dump on some powerful combo setups I’m enjoying lately. Let me know what you think—especially if you’ve been trying Painforge or have any sweet Filthy Scavenger replays to share.

Until next time… may your brawls be victorious and your speed be unmatched!
👊🔥

That's all for this week, see you all on the battlefield
