Conclave Arcana: A Quiet Week and a (small) Personal Rant

Another week has zipped by—seriously, where does the time go? While the Conclave continues to slowly unfold its mysteries, this week felt like a quiet one. No big releases, no sudden shifts, just that steady Conclave rhythm settling in. Which, to be honest, is expected. Not every week can be fireworks, especially now that the set is more or less out in the wild.

The pack sale continues, and if you're curious how many packs are left or being opened, Elmo Burns is your best friend:

For me personally? It’s been a slow week on the Conclave front. Not because I’m uninterested—quite the opposite—I’m just super busy with Land stuff (which deserves its own post, so I’ll save that update for later). But I do want to touch on something that’s been bugging me about Conclave.

A Little Conclave Frustration

So here’s the thing: I’ve got 250 unopened Conclave packs just sitting there, and I really want to rip them open, add some new firepower to my deck, and get into the mix. But I’m not doing it. Why? Because of the conflict setup.

Now, I get it—Splinterlands wants us to think about our options, plan our moves, weigh the trade-offs. That’s part of the game’s appeal. But the fact that Rebellion cards can also be placed in Conclave conflicts just doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like it undercuts the purpose of these new conflicts being Conclave-themed.

Here’s why I think the team should’ve limited conflict decks to Conclave cards only:

  1. When Rebellion dropped, you couldn’t use Chaos Legion cards in its conflicts. So why flip the rules?
  2. Allowing Rebellion cards in Conclave conflict means I have less incentive to open my packs right now.

There’s also the mechanics of pack opening to consider. If I wait to open my packs later, I’ll have a slightly higher chance of pulling something wild like a Gold Foil Arcana or even Black Foil Arcana. The way the pack “buckets” and odds are set up rewards people who open later in the release cycle, and I love that mechanic. It makes each phase of the set's life feel meaningful.

Contrast that with Rebellion—there, the pressure was all about buy fast, open fast, and chase those leaderboard points. It was a sprint. With Conclave, things feel more strategic and spread out, almost like a marathon. And honestly, I love that slower pacing. But it does create a bit of a conflict (pun intended) when older sets like Rebellion are allowed in Conclave wagons. It kind of muddies the waters and makes the whole “should I open my packs now or wait?” question even more frustrating.

That said, let’s end on a positive note. Because Rebellion cards can be used in wagons, I technically have a slightly higher share of wagon/airdrop points from my Rebellion stash. We don’t know the exact math yet, so I’m hoping the advantage is negligible—or maybe even ignored entirely—so I can finally rip into my Conclave packs guilt-free. 😆 Really hoping the team makes it more rewarding for the big Conclave buyers, not just the folks who already went all-in on Rebellion. Here's to crossing fingers and cracking packs soon!

The (Embarrassing) Current State of My Conclave Stats

Okay, confession time: I’ve only opened like 10 Conclave packs so far. So my deck is... not exactly tournament-worthy. I’m hurting for cards, and it shows. Here’s the sad little stat to prove it:

image.png

But hey, that win was earned, not by my bot. It came from a manual brawl battle, and you better believe I was hyped when it went my way!

Guild Brawls and Going Diamond

On the topic of brawls, our guild has been getting some new blood lately, and that’s great news! We hit 100% brawl fill this round, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that it keeps up. Most of our new players are Bronze/Silver level, which makes sense—that’s where most of the population sits for modern—but it also means we’ve got good coverage on those frays.

As for me? I took one for the team and jumped into Modern Diamond this time. Definitely not my usual spot. I’ve got one maxed Rebellion summoner, but that’s it. No fully maxed units. And definitely no high-level Conclave cards. 😂

Fun fact: my only maxed Conclave card is a Black Foil, and guess where it is?

Yep—on land.

Because of course it is, 5x Production Boost 😍

Anyway, that’s my Conclave update for the week. A bit of a rant, a humble brag, and some stats to prove I’m still in the game—even if I’m not playing with a full deck (literally). More on Land soon, and maybe I’ll even open a few more packs. Or not. Still undecided. 🤷‍♂️

Until next time, See you on the battlefield! 🧙‍♂️⚔️

Conflicts are going to be really interesting, I just wonder if the little guy will get screwed over with BF/BFA being so advantageous in collection power?

We can only wait and see…

I’d be opening those packs, enjoy playing with them, you may open something amazing that out weighs packs on wagons anyway!

The numbers and requirements, for conflict, were previously defined and communicated (before presale starts) so that you could make a plan in advance. That said, we likely still have some time before things officially begin.

What we don’t know yet is how many chances will be guaranteed for x collection power and with BF being 5x CP that must increase the amount for guaranteed chance because if it’s too low we overprint airdrops, that’s my worry that if you are not lucky enough to have got a BF you miss out on airdrops. I’ve put more into CA than Rebellion but feel I may not have a high enough CP for the conflicts.

yeah wait and see when they come up with the numbers for conflicts...

Yeah. Thats all we can do. I trust they will get it right, and I think you should get airdrops in line with investment, with some element of luck (I benefited from that in the last airdrop where I got 5 EMP from 1 guarantee 😃) but hopefully BF don’t skew it too much

Wow 5 EMP that is indeed lucky 😍.

I also had luck on one of the airdrop a GF Lorkus... sold it an maxed my regular in one time 😍

Totally with you on the Rebellion cards on conflicts. Plus, given the taunted "New Player Experience", providing a huge advantage to earlier players regarding absolute newcomers doesn't really make sense to me. And not even talking on the buy incentive if the rules stayed as they were. One of the reasons pack keeping makes sense is for the extra chance of legendary summoners when they drop... but yeah, it's a pain to wait and rip those packs open!

The pain is real 🤣.

But also no requirements are set so everything might change we will see.

Yep! And in the meanwhile, keep growing the CA set!

Off topic but is there an easy way to get all the plots by username? The API appears not have any anything simple and expects us to get all the plots and filter through the JSON data, which I haven't done yet.. that will likely be slow.

I did sift through your code a little, but in the end could not be arsed... better just to ask you!

For the active plot you can download it in the a csv from this page:
https://splinter-lands.streamlit.app/region_dec_metrics_page

I got that data, here is the top ten:

Also got the complete csv for you if want let me know how to send it to you?

I meant using my own code. It's not straightforward, or is it?

It depends on what you think is straight forward, do this for every region (1-151)
https://vapi.splinterlands.com/land/deeds?status=map&region_number=1

Then get the player from the deeds section and count 😁.

If you are using python

  • put the [data][deed] from every call in a dataframe (pandas)
  • concat all the df together
  • df.player.count()

something like that.

Yeah thanks, its enough to go on. I haven't used the panda library but am aware of it.

What? I did not know this, why rebellion into Conflict? I presumed when trey update you can only put the Conclave, as there are still the old rewards cards there at the Conflict area.
