Escalation presale is live and yeah… I told myself I would skip this one.

The plan was simple. Save SPS. Stack a bit more. Focus on land. Maybe even move one step closer to that dream Keep. But then the Keep prices started climbing again and I thought… okay fine… let’s at least grab some packs.

So here we are.

My Presale Move

I ended up grabbing 60 packs.

Not going crazy. Not leaderboard chasing. Just a solid stack to be part of it and get some promo cards.

With 60 packs that means:

• 6x Doldrus promo guaranteed

No guaranteed Portia yet

And yeah… that legendary promo is tempting.

If I push to 100 packs I get 1 Portia Nyr guaranteed. That is kind of sweet. I am seriously thinking about picking up 40 more packs just to secure her. A guaranteed legendary promo is always nice long term.

But…

I need to watch the budget. Land is heating up. And I still have that dream of owning a Keep one day. Who knowssss.

New Abilities… And I Like Them

What really got my attention this time are the new abilities. There are 8 of them and they feel impactful. Not just small tweaks.

A few that stand out for me:

Targets the enemy unit with the highest Power.
That is going to punish those huge stacked tanks or buffed monsters real fast.

When Burning, instead of losing health, the unit gains health.
This is spicy. Burning becomes a buff instead of a drawback. I love mechanics that flip something negative into something positive.

If an enemy deals more than 5 damage in one round, it gains Taunt.
So big burst damage can actually expose your own backline. That creates interesting risk versus reward situations.

When in last position gains Camouflage but cannot attack and boosts allies.
Support cards in the backline are becoming more tactical.

Now… with only 60 packs I am realistic. I do not expect to unlock all these shiny abilities at max level. Most of the really juicy versions are higher level Epic and Legendary cards.

Still… even at lower levels we will start seeing these abilities in battle and that will already shift the meta.

One card per pack is guaranteed Rare or better. That is always nice.

Black Foils are extremely rare. 1 in 800 packs on average. So yeah… not counting on that one.

Quick extra note because this part is actually very interesting right now.

But…

If you buy with SPS or DEC at current market prices it is a different story.

Let’s break it down.

SPS Option

• 350 SPS per pack

SPS price right now is $0.0066

Calculation:
350 × 0.0066 = $2.31 per pack

That is less than half of the $5 credit price.

DEC Option
5,000 DEC per pack
1,000 DEC = $0.581

Calculation:
5 × 0.581 = $2.905 per pack

So around $2.91 per pack

That is actually a serious discount if you are holding SPS or DEC already.

Of course market prices can move. But at these levels buying with SPS especially feels very juicy.

Now the real question… do I stop at 60 packs… or do I take advantage of this SPS pricing and push to 100 for that guaranteed Portia 😅

Conflicts Are Coming

What also makes this interesting is that Escalation has its own Conflicts.

Only Escalation cards can be used there. That means early packs have extra value for people who want to compete hard.

Each pack staked gives 100 contribution score. Wagon repair costs are reduced for the mini set conflict.

I am not planning to go all-in. But I will definitely participate. Even a smaller stack can still generate decent contribution over time.

Final Thoughts

I like this mini set.

The theme feels strong. The abilities look impactful. The promo cards are actually interesting gameplay wise and not just collector bait.

I am happy with my 60 packs for now.

Maybe I push to 100 for that guaranteed Portia. Maybe I behave and keep stacking for land. Maybe I finally move closer to that Keep dream.

Splinterlands always makes it hard to sit on the sidelines.
