Wild Cocatrice on the run

Okay, I'm being pretty productive this week. This is my third day in a row of drawing and posting and I am pretty proud of myself for it. Today I went with a wild card which is a Cocatrice card. I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw this one before. And if somebody did, I think this would ba among the rare cards that ever get the chance to see the light XD I think it's a funny card though.

So I put it in a bamboo forest because (1) it looks like a creature only Asia would come up with, and (2) I just thought the bamboo would look cute.

I loosely based off this one:

I just didn't make it as feathery as it should be. It probably molted in the entire duration that it kept running XD or at least that's what I would like to think XD

For the progress, I started this drawing without thinking of the background, really. Cuz you know on some days where I already know what to do with a background and then on some days, I just wing it? Well, this was one of those wing it days. I was more focused on my Cocatrice because this is the first time I tried drawing this and I wanted it to look like a chicken dragon at least because that's what it is XD

Then I d a bit of clean up and light shading. I didn't want to fully block this one in gray because I don't think this was meant to be fully gray like that.

But I didn't hold back on the shading and the little details though because I'm like that XD. I was actually sure on posting just this with the highlights but my man said it definitely needed a background, and that's ho settled on a bamboo forest background.

And that was the totally random story of this Cocatrice XD

I am happy with how it came out and maybe I'll try a more colored Cocatrice one of these days so it gets a bit more fan art. After today, I'll be working on mermay for a while so let's see how I incorporate my Splinterlands and holozing things into the prompt words. It's gonna be great training for inktober and sketchtember!
