Queen mycelia | A quick sketch for soc med

Hello hello! I have been bedridden for the past 2 days and have had sporadic periods of being awake then asleep here and there. So far, I'm a little better but I still have this numbing headache and slight body pain. So for now, I took the whole week off to recover from whatever this is but I will have to go to the hospital tomorrow for a check up. I don't want to push this temporary relief by going outside again. So in the few times that I have been awake, I've been trying to draw and sketch until I ultimately pass out. Today I'm awake a little longer so I could try to join the Splinterlands social media challenge. I've actually been wanting to join this more often so this will alsi be part of my new year's resolution.

So this is what I managed this afternoon while still recovering sleep. I've been meaning to daw queen mycelia for a while now and I actually originally wanted to draw her digitally but my system body had a hard time staring at screens for so long lately so I went traditional.

I was somewhat basing on the original art but also adapted it in my usual style so you can't see much differences, really except that she's weirder in semi-realism and something I do not wish to encounter on a hike XD

And as for my progression:
I made use of the watercolors I have. I originally wanted to do this in full watercolor for practice but I don't think I'm at that point on my watercolor skills yet. I think the most I can do with watercolors right now is just for backgrounds and for some small objects, but I have yet to challenge myself to explore these skills more.

After my watercolor layer, I did the sketch then started inking in black, then pink, violet, hints of red then the highlights. I'm on 50/50 with how I feel about this drawing of mine this time because on one hand, it looks pretty good but on the other hand, I 0feel like something is still missing and I have yet to figure out what's missing, still XD
But I have finished it and I even had an audience while I was working on it.

Not the best kind of audience though because she had me stuck to my spot and had my hand and arm aching about 15 minutes into her nap, but an audience nonetheless XD

So this is all from me for tonight. I'm not so hopeful on doing the 365 blogs now because I already missed some days, but I will be moving my goals to writing at least 200+ blogs this year since that seems more realistic at the moment.
