A first feel of Splinterlands: Successfully completed Prologue 1 of "Waur Medge Academy"

I've been watching in admiration from afar for the past two months, how the players of Splinterlands game narrate their experience in the game. I had been wondering when I would have the time and resources to learn and engage in the game.

Thanks to @rtonline and @finpulse for their detailed tutorial and walkthrough posts that guided me to try out my first journey into the Splinterlands game. I learnt that the Campaign Mode was added to Splinterlands earlier this year, as an interactive PvE game mode where a user can start a new journey as a fledgling Battle Mage.

I logged into the game and started Book 1 of the Waur Medge Academy. I learned, fought my first battle, and earned my first set of foundational cards. It was that simple.

Book 1 of the campaign, dubbed "Waur Medge Academy" is completely free to play and intended to introduce new players to Splinterlands and give them Foundations cards and Glint. According to the guide posts, I learnt that Foundations Cards are Soulbound but can only be used in Ranked Battles.

The cards are playable in all Modes except Survival Mode, and can be used to earn Glint and SPS (if you have SPS in Stake). Players cannot burn those foundational cards, and they do not contribute to the player's collection power and provide no production value on land.

On launching the campaign environment, I saw that Book 2 is not yet live. Book 1: Waur Medge Academy consists of 11 chapters, and the first chapter is called "Prologue (part 1) : Journey to Waur Medge.".

The travel to Waur Medge Academy is Battle magic where champions are forged. But the road to greatness is never easy. You'll face your first test before you eben arrive.

I see the prologue as a story through the Grand Praetorian Plain. The plain is referred to as the land of prosperity, located in the Southwest of Max City.

It was beautiful to meet Gon Fizzlebit, referred to as "my best friend". The character is a Rock Gnome, a Battle Mage student. Gon Fizzlebit likes Spiced Carnfuit Bowl and dislikes confrontation.

In the course of the storyline, the card called Dread Tafarian was featured.

We moved to the Darkwood, and the journey continued.

In the Darkwood, Hobart Finley was introduced as a lazy Old Codgr classified as a Human, and a Wagon Driver who likes nothing and dislikes everything.

Dread Tafarian was given to me for the first battle experience, though I could not imagine what the battle would look like. I am happy it was fully automated.

The angry bear appeared for the fight.

The stage was set for the fight

I defeated the angry bear using Dread Tafarian.

I was awarded 1 piece of Dread Tafarian and 1 piece of the angry bear. I claimed the rewards and was ready for the next chapter. I will share with you the growth and the experience at the next level.

All images were captured from Splinterlands gaming environment.
