New Tasoshi Drakamoto

I've made a post about Tasoshi Drakamoto when it first was announced a few weeks back. You can check out the article I've made here. But since then, he was reworked and had a huge improvement possibly due to lower sales compared to the previous card offering, Kelan Gaines. So let's check out what are the differences between the two.

Old Version

New Version

First off, the mana cost was significantly reduced from eight to six. This is a massive upgrade for me as Tasoshi now becomes playable in more matches. Because let's face it, despite a card having numerous abilities, it wouldn't single handedly win you the game and it needs other cards to support it. Maybe this is true for older cards as I see Kron the Undying or Quora Towershead as those that can trample on their own.

Second, Painforge is a very interesting addition to Tasoshi's already jampacked ability list. Painforge reads that it gives +1 power when the unit is hit by an ally or damaged by poison or burning.

And since Tasoshi is from the Fire element, I immediately thought Khazi Conjurer would be a good pairing for Tasoshi should I delegate this duo at the backend of the team. And with Khazi Conjurer only requiring two mana, it wouldn't be hard to fit the two of them in most matches. My main concern though is that Tashoshi Drakamoto only have six health even at the maximum level. Will the increase in magic damage by one point worth the two health deduction from burning? At most, Tasoshi can only withstand two instances of Painforge activation, with the magic becoming five.

I'm thinking if I want to capitalize on Tasoshi's new Painforge ability, Oridum Graybrow would be a better card pairing. This is because Oridum has Resurgence which is basically a better version of self-resurrect. The downside to this is that all units are dealt with one damage. This is better for Tasoshi as it wouldn't be that impactful to health when activating Painforge. Also, Oridum would highly benefit from Tasoshi's Inspire.

Another interesting thing is that despite being in the Fire element, Tasoshi is also from the Drakoshan lineage. This means I can also summon him using Kavor Skarn's Bloodline Dominion. With that, Songale is another ideal partner for Tasoshi because of Reckless. This also activates the Painforge and unlike Burning, Reckless only deals one damage to the adjacent ally unit.

Price Barrier

Now, if I would nitpick one aspect of this card sale, it would be that Tasoshi Nakamoto's price is too high. In order to acquire a copy of this card, I would have to shell out 250 vouchers or 5,889 DEC. That's 5 USD for a single card! And since it's an epic, it would take 46 copies to max Tasoshi out and that would cost me 230 USD, which is insane. It's too high in my opinion and I would rather buy legendary archons at that price point. I wish they would have dropped the price as well when they reworked Tasoshi's stats and abilities.

With my new found hobby of collecting Drakoshan cards, I would definitely intend to get a max copy of Tasoshi Drakamoto. I've purchased a single copy for $4.80 in the secondary market just to own one. But I definitely wouldn't pay full price for a max level. I'm really hoping that the voucher prices would lower down in the coming weeks or month right before Tasoshi leaves the in-game shop. I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath for this one.
