Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: My First Survival Mode Battle – A Glorious Defeat!
Hello! Today, I'd like to introduce you to my first Survival Mode Battle – a glorious defeat experience!
🔥 Entering the Survival Mode Arena with My “Ultimate” Deck (or so I thought) 🔥
“This time, I’ve got it!”
With full confidence, I entered Survival Mode, ready to crush my opponents. I carefully assembled my best Water deck, leveraging all my past experiences to create what I believed to be an unstoppable lineup.
Summoner:
🔹 Pembroke Nymph – Providing +1 Health and an extra Gladiator slot.
Units
🔹 Diemonshark – With Trample.
🔹 Flying Squid – A solid second-position attacker with Reach.
🔹 Arkemis the Bear – Boosting my team’s armor to withstand attacks.
🔹 Swamp Spitter – My dedicated armor repairer.
🔹 Isgald Vorst – A Bloodlust-powered gladiator ready to destroy enemies.
🔹 Nerissa Tridawn – A reliable magic attacker for stable damage output.
“This has to work,” I thought.
Reality, however, had other plans.
👿 The First Round – Instant Regret 👿
The moment I saw my opponent’s lineup, my heart sank. "Oh… this is bad."
At first glance, their summoner Lily Shieldpaw looked adorable.
But don’t be fooled—this sneaky red panda was boosting all friendly units’ health, preventing targeted attacks, and healing the backline. In other words: my team’s attacks were going to be completely useless.
Then, I saw their frontliner: Inevitable.
🔹 Inevitable – Shielded, tanky, and self-healing.
🔹 Chaos Dragon – Randomly bombarding my team with magic attacks.
🔹 Oshuur Constantia – Reviving fallen allies. Are you kidding me!?
🔹 Djinn Renova – Boosting all allies’ HP.
🔹 Venari Crystalsmith – Healing the frontline every turn.
🔹 Meriput Magician – More healing. More defense. More pain.
How many healers does one team need?! At this point, I started sweating.
⚰️ The Slaughter Begins…
The battle started.
Inevitable barely flinched at my team’s attacks. Chaos Dragon rained down destruction with magic, targeting my backline.
My Diemonshark, full of energy, charged in for an attack.
And…
Nothing. The damage was immediately healed.
My entire team collapsed in just 4 rounds without taking down a single enemy.
Not even Inevitable. Not even one enemy.
And to make things even sadder, the only thing that changed between the moment the battle started and the moment it ended...
Was that Inevitable lost just ONE point of armor.
That’s it.
My team? Completely wiped out.
My opponent? Basically untouched.
I’ve never felt more useless in my life. 😂

🧐 The Harsh Reality of Survival Mode
Key takeaways from this "experience" (aka humiliation):
✅ Survival Mode is brutal for beginners: If you get matched with a veteran player, you will get crushed.
✅ Healing and defensive lineups are pure evil: If your opponent has multiple healers and shields, good luck breaking through.
✅ The worst part: In Survival Mode, fallen cards can’t be used again for the rest of the season. Meaning, not only did I lose the match, but my strongest cards are now unavailable. Great. My season is now ruined.
🎯 Lessons Learned for Next Time
💡 Think carefully before entering Survival Mode.
💀 Final Verdict: Entering Survival Mode Unprepared is Just Free Food for the Veterans 💀
I went in thinking, “This is my time to shine!”
But reality hit like a truck, and I got annihilated before I could even put up a fight.
Next time… I’ll be ready! 🔥🔥🔥
Moral of the story:
If you’re diving into Survival Mode, be prepared… or be eliminated!
Otherwise, you might end up like me—
watching your best cards disappear for the season while questioning your life choices. 😂
