Campaign Mode has arrived in Splinterlands - 38 Foundation creatures are ready for battle
Cover made using images and elements from Splinterlands.
Thanks to the implementation of the new Campaign Mode, both new players and those planning to delve into Splinterlands will now be able to learn the dynamics of the game through well taught academic battles.
Currently, the first part or first Book of the campaign is available, called Waur Medge Academy, which consists of 11 chapters. In each chapter, a professor will teach you something new so you are ready to play against real players.

When you complete any chapter, you will earn some rewards. You will obtain Foundation cards, which can currently only be obtained through this mode. In addition, upon completing a chapter, you will receive 100 Glint, which will be added to your account. You can exchange them for rewards like cards, potions, energy, or other cool items at Gwen’s Glint Shop.
Let's begin our journey:
Chapter 1 - Welcome to Waur Medge
As we enter Waur Medge, Headmaster Bimblenok will give us a warm welcome, showing us the academy facilities and telling us how much we will learn here. Bimblenok will gift us our first archon Aurela, and the Dread Tafarian leonine unit, along with a bag of 100 glint.

Chapter 2 - Card Types
After you and your fellow academics have enjoyed a magnificent banquet, you head to the classroom, where the Professor Magnus Flint is located, and the training begins. First, we learn about the types of cards. There are currently 2: archons and units. Archons can summon units that will fight for us.

Our battles will be against the professor, who will use a fire archon and a fire unit, which has the same stats as our summoned lion, except it has 1 less health. So the victory is assured for us.
Chapter 3 - Melee Attacks
Next, we learn how melee attacks work, once again summoning the leonine Dread Talarian, and the goblin Mad Gearhead we got in the previous chapter. After winning the batle, we get our first ranged unit, Wilhelmdale Deputy.

Chapter 4 - Ranged Attacks
Now, we need to summon our ranged unit to win this battle. Ranged units cannot attack from the first position, but they can attack from the backline position. After succesfully completing the battle, we will obtain an epic card, Kicking Roc, a ranged unit with an attack power of 3.

Chapter 5 - Armor
It's time to learn about the armor that some units have naturally. This armor protects health from melee and ranged attacks, as the unit's health will not be damaged until all of its armor is destroyed. After winning the battle, we will obtain 1 fire archon and 3 fire units.

Chapter 6 - Speed
The next lesson is about speed, which is a stat that determines which units attack first and last. It also affects the accuracy of melee and ranged units, which have low speed when facing faster units, reducing their chance of hitting their target, the slower the are, the worse. By winning this battle, we will obtain 1 water archon and 3 water units of different attack types.

Chapter 7 - Magic Attacks
Professor Magnus Flint teaches the last lesson of the day, as it is almost dinner time. This will be our first time summoning a magic unit, which unlike melee and ranged units, which have attack restrictions based on their position, magic units don't care what position they are in, they will attack regardless. And let's not forget that their magic attacks ignore armor and don't miss, even at 1 speed. After winning the battle, we will get 3 fire units.

Chapter 8 - Abilities
The next day, Professor Serina Montclair enters the classroom and begins teaching about unit abilities, which make the battle even more exciting. After winning the battle, we will hace access to light units, 1 archon and 5 units.

Chapter 9 - Mana
From now on, Professor Thalos Graystone will teach us, starting with the mana costs of cards. Each battle has a mana limit, so it is our responsability to decide which units will be best for each battle. After completing the battle, we will get 6 death units, and 1 neutral ranged unit.

Chapter 10 - Elements
Now, we will learn about the element of cards. Each archon can summon units based on their element, for example a death archon can only summon death units. But there is a special element, which are the neutrals. Since they do not belong to any faction, they can be summoned by any archon regardless of their element. After winning the battle, 2 rare earth units and 4 neutral units will be added to your collection.

Chapter 11 - Modifiers
We reach the final chapter, and Professor Thalos teaches us our last lesson. We learn about modifiers, which are battle rules that affect the battle in many ways. For example, in this battle the Noxius Fumes modifier will be active, meaning all units will start the battle poisoned, which in turn means they will lose 2 health at the start of the second round onwards. After passing the test, we will get 2 units of water and 1 unit of fire.

And that's the 11 chapters successfully completed in the first part or Book 1 of the campaign mode. A total of 38 cards and 1100 Glint were obtained. Now it's time for the real action, against real players. Are you ready?
