Ahonex: The Auction House for Splinterlands
In Splinterlands there are many third party markets where cards can be purchased, such as Peakmonsters and Monstermarket. However, there was no auction house. But now, with the release of Ahonex, players can list their cards for auction and bid on auction cards.
Let's see how this works, first step, very easy, we login with keychain:
To auction a card, we must pay the fee, which is 250 DEC, currently around $0.25.
Before creating the auction, there are a few options:
Starting Price: Set the price at which the auction will start. If you leave this space blank, the bidding will start from 0 by default.
Reserve Price: Set the minimum acceptable winning bid. If the highest bid when the auction ends is below this threshold, your item will be returned.
Buy Now Price: Set a price at which buyers can purchase your item immediately.
Duration: Set the duration you want the auction to end, the minimum is 1 hour and the max you can set is 7 days.
Boost your Auction: If you want your auction to appear at the top of search results and on the homepage, you can do so by using a DEC amount, the minimum is 100 and the max 10,000 DEC. The more DEC, the better for your auction.
It caught my attention that gladius cards appeared in the collection, so I wondered if they could be listed in the auction. So, I tried to create an auction for a Chimmey Wallstop at level 1, with a starting price of 100 DEC, a reserve price of 175, and the buy now price of 275. Keep in mind that there is also a 5% fee when your card is sold.
Before doing this, I had 306.9 DEC, so I confirm the transaction to see what happens.
Well guys, apparently as I suspected, it doesn't work with gladius cards. I got an error message :(
Please do not attempt this, as it still counts as a transaction, so the 250 DEC fee is not refunded.
Well, I'd better auction my Bortus at level 1. I bought some DEC to pay the listing fee.
Another error, this time because I can't auction a card that's already listed on the market, I forgot that I had previously put this Bortus up for rent. So once again I lost 250 DEC in listing fee :(
Well, third time's the charm. I canceled the rental list of all my Bortus, and now I hope this works, and it did.

Now, if you want to bid on an auction, simply go to Browse Auctions, there you will find many cards listed.
This Cerberus from the Alpha expansion, for example, is listed for only 100 DEC, so I will put 110 DEC. It's very simple, just enter the amount of DEC you want to bid, confirm the transaction, and that's it.
I currently have the highest bid, but I know it's only a matter of time before someone bids higher than me, as the market price for an Alpha Cerberus is at least $4.00.
Now, remember, don't make the same mistakes I did :P :
First, you can't auction a Gladius card. I know it's obvious, but don't do it.
Second, before creating an auction for any card, check in Splinterlands to see if it's listed for sale or rent, and unlist it.
The 250 DEC listing fee is quite high for cheap cards, so it's better to list high level cards, I auctioned my Bortus just as an example. That's all for now guys, take care.
