Splinterlands Art Contest

Hello everyone~~ ^^ How are you?
Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. For this week’s contest, I chose “Blackmoor Nymph” card to draw. It’s one of the old cards and I have drawn this character one time before and now I just searched and I realized that it was around one year ago that I drew a portrait of this character. I thought it was sooner and I got a little shock to see that it was one year ago. One thing that I really like about going back and seeing the old art works is to see how far we went. Compared to my last fan art of this character that I made, this one is much mored detailed and realistic. Back then I was so proud of what I have drawn but now I can make the hair look more realistic. ^^ I can’t believe that improved in digital art this much.
What I really like about this character is the marks that she has on her face. I mean the blue ones under her eyes and the yellow one on her forehead. You know I really like drawing some marks on the skin because it makes the face uniques that is why that I like moles so much and I don’t know why people try to remove them of their skin. I also love drawing wounds and tattoos. ^^

To make a realistic portrait of Blackmoor Nymph, first I started with a quick sketch. I didn’t want it be just a normal portrait so I decided to draw her hand so I could draw the magic she has in the original card. I drew long hair and a dress just like the original art.
After I completed the sketch, then it was time to color the character so as always I started with coloring the skin first. I used violet color to color the skin and used darker shade to shade the skin and then used a lighter color for highlighting her skin and creating depth on the skin. ^^

After I was done working on her skin, now it was time to work on her facial features and dress. So I went on coloring and adding details and then I went on coloring her hair, I used a brush to add the hair strands.
In the end, I darkened the background because I wanted all the focus to be on the Blackmoor Nymph and her magic. I painted the magic so shiny so it attracts the attention. Another thing is that, she has only one earring but I decided to draw some more to make her look cool :D

All the brushes that I used for working on this portrait of Blackmoor Nymph are here: as always I used a soft air brush and hard air brush for working on her skin, I often use these brushes for coloring, shading and also highlighting the skin. For adding the details and making the hair looking realistic I used a hair brush. I also used the light brush for drawing the single hair strands. And as for the magic she created in her hands, I used both lighting brush and the glitter brush.
It was really fun working on this portrait of Blackmoor Nymph. It just turned out how I wanted it to be. Because I wanted hee facial expression to be cool just like the original card and I managed to make her look realistic specially her hair :D I hope you also liked it as much as I did.
Now let’s see the progress ^^
