Hello everyone~~ ^^ How are you?
Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. For this week’s contest, I decided to draw one of the old cards and chose “Divine Healer” portrait.
I remember that I have drawn this card long time ago so I searched the character’s name and saw that yeah it was 4 years ago!! Time really flies so fast!! Back then I only drew on paper with colored pencils. At that time, I didn’t change the characters art and only drew it just like the card. After sometime I started changing their hair, face expression, clothes and etc. You know, it is actually more fun this way, to inspire from the character and change some features or add new items, and not just drawing them just like the card because we have already seen the original card and now we want to see something new. ^^
Ever since I saw this card, I was always curious to know how the divine healer was looking when she was young so today I decided to draw a younger version of this healer and tried my best to make a realistic and beautiful portrait of this healer. To draw this healer as a young lady, first I drew a girl and then drew the remarkable features of this character. Since it’s the young version portrait I drew a more revealing dress for her. I like the patterns on her clothes so I decided to draw them as well. I also liked her hair style so I changed it that much. ^^
After I finished the sketch, as always I started with coloring the skin first. I shade the skin and then added tint of peach color on her skin because I didn’t want her skin to look dead and it really made a huge difference. After that, I added highlights on her skin. Then I added the color her facial features and dress and then added the pattern on her dress.
After that, it was time to work on the hair that is my favorite part of every drawing. After I colored the hair, I worked on the hair strands. Then I drew more hair strands to make the hair look detailed and realistic. In the end I added more little details like the highlights in her eyes and on her lips. I always try to add some new items and if it didn’t feel right I remove them. For this character I drew a necklace and I really liked how it turned out so I decided to keep it ^^ and then I thought of drawing some piercings, first I wasn’t sure about this one because I wasn’t sure if a divine healer would have a nose piercing. I added the piercing on the nose and realized that it suits her really well so I went on and add another one under her eyebrow, I intentionally made it small and no one may ever notice it but I wanted to draw one there as well ^^ and again, I don’t if a divine healer has piercings but it just felt right with her style. As for the background I decided to keep it simple. ^^
And about the brushes that I used, I used soft air brush and hard air brush for shading the skin and the rest of the drawing. For the hair details, I used a hair brush and lighting brush to draw the hair strands.
It’s one of my favorite portraits so far and I hope you also like it as much I enjoyed working on it.

Now let’s see the progress ^^
