Portrait Painting With Watercolor

Hey there! Today’s art is a painting/ study of a pretty lady. In line with my previous post, I went on to watch another tutorial, which is by one of my favorite artists, Chris Hong. I really love how she works with watercolor, what I love the most, is how chubby the characters she creates are, very cute!

I knew I had to paint the reference when I saw it, the lady had a really edgy look. I got painting and as you can see, my color palette is a bit similar to that of the artist I’m learning from. One thing I really like about my painting is the headscarf. I’ve been practicing how to use the bleed effect with watercolor, so seeing how I was able to mix and match soft and hard edged areas really made me happy. Improving my art brings me joy!

I made use of Van Gogh watercolor, Winsor and Newton Watercolor, Creta color pencils and my Sinoart sketchbook. Enjoy the process below!
