This week, I’m excited to share my latest drawing for the Splinterlands Art Weekly Contest 345. For this entry, I chose to illustrate the card “Lemell Refugee” a character that really caught my attention with her fierce and determined presence.

I created this piece using just a regular pencil. It’s a freehand sketch, and I wanted to give it a slightly different vibe from the original card art. My goal was to reflect her strength and movement, while staying true to my own sketching style. I really enjoyed the process it felt natural and satisfying to bring this character to life on paper.

Although the character "Lemell Refugee" has a gritty backstory, I imagined her as resilient, ready to face any challenge. She’s one of my favorites in the Splinterlands universe.

Bringing a character to life using just a pencil isn't always easy. It takes time, patience, and a steady hand. Without practice, creating detailed art like this can feel almost impossible. Fortunately, after doing many sketches over the years, I’ve grown to really enjoy this process and challenge myself with each new piece.

There’s a unique kind of joy that comes from working in pencil feeling the texture, shaping shadows, and building up the figure stroke by stroke. For this piece, I sketched Lemell Refugee, a character from the Splinterlands universe. Though it may not take long to show the final result, trust me it takes a good amount of time to actually draw.

Lemell Refugee

Following the Chaos Legion's invasion, Lemell was a broken, desolate, and mana-less world. Of the few survivors, a great sadness filled them… and a greater anger. When the Riftwatchers arrived and promised an opportunity to strike back, many of these refugees answered the call. They combine their attunement with water mana with the art of runemancy to support their allies and seek vengeance against the Chaos Legion.
