Hello everyone and welcome to the Battle Weekly Challenge. This week the challenge is with Djinn Apprentice, a rare Fire element card with no abilities at level 1. This card belongs to the Chaos Legion edition and is part of the Starter cards, so we can use it for free.

In this particular battle we are going to face a level 1 Thaddius Brood summoner. We are going to play on equal terms as we can only use cards at level 1. So let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules

This is a 34 mana battle with the "Explosive Weaponry" and "Reverse Speed" rules where only Fire, Water and Death elements are allowed to play.

IconNameDescription
Explosive WeaponryAll Monsters have the Blast ability.
Reverse SpeedMonsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
  • A trick for this ruleset is to pick monsters with 1-2 speed because they have the best chance of evading Melee and Ranged attacks and they’re going to attack first.

My Lineup

Tarsa was surrounded by a tribe of barbarians. Barbarians that were angry she was on their land, using their resources, and hunting their animals. They tried to talk to her, but Tarsa cared little for conversation. She was stronger than all of them combined. She flicked her wrist and bolts of fire shot from her spinning torrent, impacting the warriors around her. They screamed. She laughed. “Well, come on!” she shouted. “Let's see if any of you are strong enough for Tarsa!

Tarsa: I really like this summoner as it gives +1 health to all friendly monsters and +1 melee damage to all friendly monsters with melee attack. Having +1 extra HP is very important in this ruleset since all monsters have the Blast ability.

Living Lava: This card is an amazing tank as he only takes half damage from melee and ranged attacks thanks to its Shield ability.

Radiated Brute: In the second position I decided to use Radiated Brute. This card will target the enemy monster in the first position thanks to its Reach ability. It will help us to kill the enemy tank quickly. His high Attack and HP make him also very useful as a second tank, and his low Speed will help us a lot in this ruleset.

Tenyii Striker: This card can target the last monster on the enemy team with his Sneak ability . My main objective with Tenyii Striker is to kill enemy monsters with low HP that players usually use in the last position.

Djinn Apprentice: In the fourth position I have decided to use Djinn Apprentice, the protagonist of this challenge. I really like to use this card as it deals magic damage. I like to use at least one magic damage card to avoid my opponent's heavily armored monsters. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.

Molten Ash Golem: I think this card is very powerful in this battle. We can benefit from its high HP (9) for the "Explosive Weaponry" rule and its low Speed (1) for the "Reverse Speed" rule, the two rules of the battle.

Xenith Archer In the last position I have used Xenith Archer. This card does not have any abilities at level 1, but using it in the last position allows us to defend our strongest monsters from enemy monsters with the Sneak ability.

Did your strategy work?

I think my strategy worked well. We have managed to use a varied combination of different types of damage (melee, magic and ranged) and win the battle. I think our summoner choice was very wise as it gave us a considerable advantage in this ruleset. We have chosen the fire element because it has very strong monsters with high HP and low Speed, which makes it perfect in a battle with the "Explosive Weaponry" and "Reverse Speed" rules. So I’m proud of the result and the strategy I used.

Do you like Djinn Apprentice?

Yes, I like Djinn Apprentice. Personally, it is a card that I use a lot for its impact in battles. I think Djinn Apprentice should be taken into account in most Fire compositions mostly because the Fire element doesn't have a lot of magic attack monsters and can catch the enemy off guard. In addition, we can also take advantage of its low speed in battles with the "Reverse Speed" rule, where monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
