Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, monday the 30/09/2024 in history.

We begin today from the events of WWII. Do you know that on this day in 1938, the notorious Munich Agreement was signed, in which Britain's Neville Chamberlain persuaded Britain and France to accommodate Adolf Hitler's demands in order to avoid World War II.

From the events of WWII, we move over to Indonesia. Do you also know that on this day in 1965, In Indonesia, a group of army conspirators known as the September 30th Movement launched an abortive coup, kidnapping and murdering six army generals by the following morning; the movement claimed that it had seized power to prevent a coup against President Sukarno by a general council.

From Indonesia, we move over to Madagascar. Now, on this day in 1895, French troops captured Antananarivo, Madagascar, when the Prime Minister, Rainilaiarivony, refused to surrender to French authority.

From Madagascar, we move over to Poland. Do you know that on this day in 1773, The Polish Sejm (legislature) ratified the treaty that resulted in Poland's First Partition by Russia, Prussia, and Austria.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from the world of tennis. Do you know that on this day in 1980, Martina Hingis, a Swiss professional tennis player who became the youngest Grand Slam singles winner in the "open" era, as well as the youngest world number one was born in Košice, Czechoslovakia [now in Slovakia].
