Splinterlands Art Contest - Week 250 - Magi Sphinx

avatar

Hey there, folk. Here I am with another entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest for this week. I wouldn't have imagined finishing it on time, but I guess I owe that to digital art, now.

The Line Art

This time around, I decided to do something new and not dedicate so much time to the line art - unlike last week's result where I had a full-fledged line art that could be considered a separate piece in and of itself.

Anyways, it's not visible in this first shot since I disabled it, but I kept a portion of the card art visible somewhere up there and just started making out some rough shapes here and there.

It turned out to be much faster and I ended up moving to the coloring part in no time.

New Coloring Tip

Now I've learned about the alpha lock option that makes everything super easier. It helps you color and stay in line. For that last week's piece, I had to be careful and worry about not coloring behind the lines, but with this feature, I can focus more on creativity and bringing new character variations to life rather than worrying about the artistic accuracy of my works.

All-in-all, a straight 10/10 feature, would recommend!

The Background

I was quite satisfied with how fast and pleasing things turned out this time and I think I'd start participating more regularly... but at the end of the day, I felt like something was off about the painting...

and I think it was some color to give the drawing more life and make it less generic and bland and I achieved that by adding some "canonically correct" fires to her side and darkening the background so that the fires around her look more vivid.

The Result

All in all, I'm quite happy with how it turned out this time around, also...
I wish y'all the best of best in this week's art contest.
Thanks for reading up until here, and have a great on...
Cheers~
