Rising Star Meme #79 - Closer Look at Ego's Progress!

I was today years old when I found that out and I am feeling quite embarrassed because of how long it took me to realize that.

Here's the deal:

You already know that:

• Base Ego is different for different missions - longer missions have more initial Ego per day
• Base Ego rises every time you enter a new Zone - be careful before moving on to the next Zone
• And last, but not the least, base Ego rises when you gain more Fans

Now GET THIS:

Ego rises differently throughout the day for different missions!!

Well, DUH!
You might say that it's a no brainer, but here's the difference I just found out about today:

Ego rises faster on shorter missions!!

That's a gameplay mechanic that makes a lot of sense, but I didn't see coming. Today I was doing my normal pattern starting from the first Zone's Illegal Busking, then onto Open Mic Night, and after that was Mid Week Support's turn.

After what was like 6-7 runs of Mid Week Support, I realized that the Ego gain per run was still below 10, however, the shorter missions' Ego was well beyond 15 and 18, IIRC!!

Even after 5-6 runs and rewards decreasing a couple of times, the Ego gain was far less than illegal busking's 14 or 18 after just 5-6 runs.

This might just be my mind playing tricks on me - I've been sleep-deprived for quite some time now. But one thing that's making me almost certain of it is how longer missions have different initial Ego on each day, so it's not far from mind for them to have different Ego progression as well!

What struck me with even more shock was the fact that Mid Week Support (a 35% energy costing mission that takes 25 mins to complete) is considered a long mission in calculations.
On second thought, it makes perfect sense! As the mission takes 5 times more time than the 5-min illegal busking.

Combine that with the fact that Ego's existence is to counter the big guys' ability to superfarm shorter missions, I think that was to be expected!

It was an interesting find and I thought I'd share it with y'all as well!
