I Never Knew I Could “Draw” - Splinterlands
Image Link. It’s also a link where we get to learn about splinterlands, it’s history and the game’s currency.
Hey guys, hope your monsters and warm and cozy. Once again, we’ve reached the time of the year where it’s about making others happy. The frosty breeze, the paleness in the environment, the shuddering of an unclothed dog, the hot air that roughly resembles like a smoke from a chimney.
With all this festivity, I never planned on having a “draw” match on splinterlands. This is actually my first time having a match as a draw, and you guys get to witness it all!
At the end of the post is the battle’s link.
Below is the battle’s pivotal moments.
Gracing The Stage - Windeku
For a mana cap of 15, I saw that I couldn’t get the Unicorn-Goblin mage duo. So, I went for Thaddieus Brood. I wanted to take a tank with Fire ball negation ability but I have a record for losing with them, not to mention that they are crazy expensive. Therefore, I got the Windeku. Life Sapper would breach the given mana cap, so I got a scavenger and a random 1 mana costing monster. I still don’t know what faction the opponent is from, or her cards.
Round 1
The factions abilities were administered on the monsters. I got their health down by one but couldn’t get their spell strength down because all of them were having melee attacks.
The opponent got all of his melee attacks buffed by +1. None of the “free” factions I got in my items section gives this buff as a single trait. No wonder he got 4 monsters for a bit cheap.
My tanks leads the attack, doing a 0 damage on their frontline monster. My scavenger did what he does best, prolonged them battle by getting a +1 HP each turn. The opponent’s mermaid looking monsters attacks my scavenger, doing a -2 on its HP.
His frontline minion does a damage or 2 on Windeku and gets pricked by thorns, that’s when he took an actual damage. Pretty lucky for me that I chose Windeku as my tank.
In Round 2, my Windeku and scavenger got bashed hard. Windeku charges the knight and only managed to get his shield down. The knight attacked but the thorns did no damage on the knight and his horse. Pretty slick, that shield ability all while my scavenger was almost on his last HP, desperately managing to get a +1 HP during it’s turn.
Round 3 - War
The knight charged and Windeku and this time the thorns did it’s job. So, my Windeku was at 3 HP while the knight was at 1.
The rest of the monsters joined in the battle, my scavenger was out of the battle thanks to a swift attack from the shredded cat looking monster😾. Windeku’s turn came, he banished the knight into the forgotten realm.
As soon as the knight was down and out, the +1 hit point of the monsters went down by 1. My Windeku, still having a +3 HP. That was when I began to hope to win this battle.
Round 4 - Finale
The mermaid got her attack within the round and the thorns did 0 damage to it😥. The cat charged and got a treatment with thorns, very effective. He was out.
My Windeku and his mermaid were left, light vs dark. In this case, I would call myself the “dark side”. Both were at their last HP. The Mermaid dashes for the final blow, her attack makes contact and a -1 was made to Windeku.
I thought that the battle was over, then I see thorns slowly building up around the mermaid. A -2 HP damage was dealt and this time the thorns did their trick. She also fell then and there. The match was a draw.
This battle showed that how strategic prowess is equal to luck. What I made with the deck was dumb luck per say and his was a more calmed thinking and wise placement. Never did I imagine that this would be draw, especially when I saw that his 2 cards were having a +2 hit points each.
