All Alone In The Gold Leagues ~ Splinterlands X Social Media Challenge
Hello, splinter-folk. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle that I had at the start of last season when I was crushing the Gold Leagues with my selected monsters. It was also my last Modern League since this season; I have only concentrated on the Wild Leagues.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 36 and only 1 summoner is available.
Battle Rules:-
- Deflection Shield: All units have the ability to deflect blast, corrosive ward, magic deflect, return fire, and thorns.
- What Doesn't Kill You: All units have enrage ability where 50% of all their abilities increase if their HP is lower than max.
- Reverse Speed: Units with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance to evade attacks.
Battle Details
Let's start the deck deconstruction from my side:
Summoner: Tarsa(Ability: Increase in Melee and HP by 1 for all ally monsters).
Tank: Mantaroth(Ability: Armoured strike, Shield).
Melee Attackers: Radiated Brute(Ability: Reach), Surly Drunk(Ability: Opportunity).
Magic Attackers: Sorriel The Bale(Ability: Double Strike*), Magi of Chaos(No Ability).
My strategy was to attack the opposition from the front while I would receive lower damage from the front from the incoming melee attacks. To protect the back of my deck, I used a unit with low HP. On the off chance that they don't use a sneak attacker, I wanted this fall monster to be useful hence the opportunity ability monster was what I used. I used 2 magic attackers to ensure the damage was put on his tank, and slowly but surely, I chipped away his HP and brought down his units one by one. Behind my tank, I used a melee attacker with reach to further support the assault.
My overall damage per round is 16 damage.
Now, for the opposition's turn:
Summoner: Tarsa(Ability: Increase in Melee and HP by 1 for all ally monsters).
Tank: Molten Ash Golem(Ability: Close Range).
Melee Attackers: Radiated Brute(Ability: Reach), Tenyii Striker(Ability: Sneak).
Magic Attacker: Djinn Apprentice(No Ability).
Ranged Attackers: SCavo Firebolt(No Ability), Supply Runner(No Ability).
His strategy was to attack me from all sides using all 3 attack types. He used a tank with a ranged attack and high HP and backed it up with the same melee attacker I used. He placed 1 magic attacker behind the supporting melee attacker. Then used 2 ranged attackers at the end making them the key attackers in his deck before placing the sneak attacker at the end of the deck.
His overall damage per round is 13.
Major Events
The first monster to fall was my Drunken monster at the backlines. It served its purpose as it would take 2 rounds to finish off my magic attacker.
The second monster to fal was his tank as my units were able to focus their damage on a single entity.
At the start of the round, his supporting melee attacker fell making it a 4 v 4 thus the odds were evened.
Near the end of the round, his magic attacker fell thanks to my tank with its heightened attacking ability.
At the start of the round, his Firebolt got bolted out of the game thanks to my Radiated Brute and instantly it turned into a 1 v 4.
Just before mid-game, his Striker managed to pull off one last kill.
At the end of the round, my tank took out his sole ranged attacker leaving his only attacker at play while I maintained 3.
At the end of the round, his sole monster fell leaving 2 of my units unscathed.
Results
While he had mane units that had low speed and a good number of HP, he just couldn't stand up to my overall damage per round. That way, he couldn't withstand pure strength with all the number of attackers. That is why, sometimes, you can try to use quality tanky monster units instead of focussing on the quantity of monsters.
