Today, I will share a battle that glorifies the essence of strategy with a unique monster selection. This battle was done in the Modern Leagues Silver III Rank which I've touched after a long time.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 49 and all the summoners are on the table. With such a huge mana cap, any summoner can provide the wildest deck imaginable that suits perfectly for the player's playstyle.

Battle Rules:-

  • Blood And Sunder- All units gain the corrosive ward.
  • Are you not entertained?- *One Gladiator monster may be used in battle.

Keeping the battle rules in mind, I chose Thaddius Brood(Death Summoner) since it provides all the debuffs I wanted.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in HP and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy units)(Level 5)

Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns, Heal).

Melee Attacker: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach, Trample).

Ranged Attackers: Queen of Crows(Ability: Close Range, Headwinds), Liza Fox(Ability: Bloodlust), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True, Deathblow).

Magic Attacker: Djinn Muirat(Ability: Void Armour, Knockout, Giant Killer).

My strategy was to attack him from the front with the full force of my monsters hence I used all the 3 types of monsters to get their tank. I used Queen for her ability to reduce all ranged damage by 1 on the enemy ranged attacks. I used Dhampir for its sure shot of 4 damage. Additionally, I picked Liza as it was the only monster with high damage and attacks from the back. Lastly, I picked Djinn for its double damage on monsters with mana higher than 9. Moreover, it would do a confirmed damage of 2 unless my opposition reduces my magic damage or has phase ability.

My overall damage is 18. Adding in the damage from thorns, it comes to 20. Should Liza's bloodlust trigger, overall damage would increase per trigger.

Now for the opposition:

Summoner: Eternan Brune(Ability: *Decrease in shield by 2 for all enemy monsters)(Grants the usage of an additional gladiator monster)

Tank: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr).

Blocked Melee Attackers: Forgotten One(Ability: Immunity), Anoid Platoon(Ability: Shield).

Ranged Attackers: Lava Launcher(Ability: Close Range)

Melee Attackers: Fina Voxom(Ability: Opportunity, Bloodlust, Piercing), Orella Abadon(Ability: Sneak, Bloodlust).

His strategy was to attack from all sides possible and put a monster with a shield to decrease the damage coming from the back. He wanted to increase his Forgotten One*'s overall stats and used 2 melee-gladiator monsters who could trigger their bloodlust, thus increasing his overall stats and, most importantly, damage. He used 1 ranged attacker with a very high number of shields, ensuring the number of rounds it might survive should it come to the tank's position.

His overall damage is 14 per round after the martyr effect on the Forgotten One. Should his bloodlust trigger, his overall damage increases per trigger.

Major Events

Round 1

Screenshot (1843).png

The first thing that Queen* did was decrease his ranged attack by 1. Thus the overall damage falls to 13. Moreover, the first to fall was obvious, his Marksrat thus his heavy melee attacker gets the martyr effect.

Near the end of the round, his prized melee monster fell thanks to my tank. This cut his overall damage by a huge proportion.

Round 2

Screenshot (1846).png

At the start of the round, my Arachne Thug fell and thus he triggered a bloodlust and evens the odds.

Screenshot (1847).png

Before half the rounds had passed, his prized ranged attacker fell by Liza's bow. That way, she triggers the bloodlust and my overall damage increases by 1, thus, the tables turned to me. His overall damage decreases down to 7 per round.

Round 3

Screenshot (1848).png

At the start of the round, his prized gladiator fell and thus his hope of winning was decreased to null.

Next, his last gladiator bit the dust, and his last monster was mincemeat the moment it stepped into the tank's place.

All in all, I feel that his strategy was perfect. Had he used Tarsa as his summoner, he would've easily won due to the damage buff and HP leveling since my summoner decreased his overall HP by 1. He did not necessarily need 2 gladiator monsters for the deck. This is why strategy and focus on the unique monster in your arsenal are important.
