From Rookie to Master 🌟 My Splinterlands Journey So Far
Welcome to another post here in the community.
Today is June 25, and I decided to take a break and write about my first (almost complete) journey (or season not sure what they officially call it) in Splinterlands, this NFT card game that blends strategy with #Play2Earn in an addictive way. Even though I started recently, I already feel like I’ve learned a lot and I know there’s still a long road ahead.
But the important thing is that I’m really enjoying the experience so far.
During this season, I decided to do something a bit bold or at least, a little off track for a beginner: I rented almost the entire Conclave Arcana collection, with the exception of the legendary cards, which were slightly above my current budget. Still, I was able to build some very interesting compositions and better adapt to the rotating battle rules. In fact, I’m considering purchasing a few permanent cards from this collection, since I think they offer great cost-benefit.

At first, I was leaning towards the Rebellion collection, mainly because it’s cheaper compared to newer sets, and many beginner players recommend starting there.
However, I ended up shifting my focus. I’ve been closely following the Lands system, and I believe that’s where I’ll be aiming my long-term strategy.
The economy and expansion plans for Lands in Splinterlands caught my attention. It seems like a key area for passive income and growth within the ecosystem. Another important step I took this week was renting SPS to increase my earnings of GLINT and SPS itself at the end of the season. I already started noticing the difference in rewards, and honestly, it seems like a very viable strategy for anyone looking to grow faster even without a large upfront investment in cards.
Currently, I’m in the Silver II league, with just 4 days left in the season.

My goal is to reach at least Silver I, and maybe even take a shot at Gold III if everything goes right and I manage to keep a good win rate. The competition is heating up, and players seem more prepared as the season comes to a close.
Here are my stats for the week:
- Total Battles: 83
- Total Wins: 57
- Longest Win Streak: 13
- My Glint Balance: 8.338
- Season End Loot: 6.258
I’m really happy with my win rate, especially considering I’m still testing different strategies and trying to adapt to the season’s meta. I had some incredible matches where card synergy and the special rules made all the difference. Right now, the Corrupted Healing ability, like the one found in Arachne Weaver, seems quite strong it helps sustain your team at the cost of the user's own life. And since Arachne has a solid health pool, it holds up well for several rounds.
I also started using the card filters for specific abilities more often, such as Opportunity, Stun, and Redemption. These helped me make more surgical choices especially when time is running out and you have to select your lineup quickly.
I have to admit I was tempted to go deeper into higher leagues, but I realized it’s better to climb slowly and with strategy. Even in Silver II, I’ve faced players with very solid decks. That shows how important it is to understand the game, not just own powerful cards.
Beyond the battles, I spent a good amount of time exploring the reward system and gained a better understanding of how GLINT, SPS, Rentals, and League Rank all work together. This mechanic really encourages gradual progression and allows even budget-conscious players to enjoy the game fully.

By the way, if you’re just starting like I am, here’s an important tip: use the rental market wisely. Some powerful cards are very affordable, especially if you rent them over the weekend when prices tend to drop.
Another thing I must mention is the community.
I’ve been following some posts on Hive, forums, and Discord, and I saw there are lots of people willing to help, share decks, talk about the current meta, and even speculate about upcoming updates like the next phases of Lands. It’s exciting to see that the game goes well beyond just competition it has a living ecosystem, with constant content and an engaging economy.

Here’s what I’m planning for the coming weeks:
- Study more about Lands and evaluate potential strategic investments.
- Increase my Power through SPS to reach a better reward tier.
- Start buying key cards I use frequently so I’m not 100% reliant on rentals.
- Explore Guilds more, since I’m in one but haven’t been active yet.
- Write more posts like this sharing progress helps me organize my thoughts and could be helpful to other beginner players too.
My biggest question right now could perhaps come down to this, what and where to spend the Glint I've obtained so far, and then with the sum of the rest, I'd like to get recommendations in the comments.
Thanks for sharing! - @yonilkar
