Hive Philippines discord meet up - It was fun!

(Edited)

Where does one begin with something like this? I mean I have only ever really done things online with Hive from the time I have signed up into the platform. Hivefest, only been ever attended this kind of thing for the platform. I don't have personal connections with anyone here, other than of course my daughters who I signed up but they are far and few with their interaction to the blockchain. My wife who managed to just post one time on Actifit but says she does not like to write lots of words to post something here. Then I have signed up three of my older siblings which they do not bother to interact with at all other than them depositing money and letting it grow passively.

So it was nerve racking to attend something where I am inclined to have to show my self through the camera of my computer. Yes, I have posted lots of videos on YouTube, my countless photos of myself here but actually meeting people I have only ever followed is nerve racking. I am not shy if you ever meet me in person but online I am shy, kind of. Hence you can see my awkward smile.

The hosts, @indayclara and @ybanezkim26, were very friendly and quite charming. I reckon I would probably enjoy their company in a real life setting. Thank you for your hospitality.

It was an eye opener to my sheltered interaction with people on hive, with the trivia interaction from everyone breaking the ice. I note though that there was a ton of silent moments but I suppose no one really wants to talk over people they have just met for the first time. I know that was what was running through my mind. First impressions matter. I must say the walking encyclopedia moment displayed by Kim was extraordinary just to say the least. It was a one sided affair. Reminds me of the mentor from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

My knowledge of this meet up was by chance reading of the planned event about a week ago. At that time I was just thinking of logging into discord in the middle of it all, muted and to just watch the proceedings. Set my calendar reminder and carried on with my life. Sunday came and the reminder buzzed me. I had set it for 7.30 PM, immediately went to discord and was surprised that no one was there at all.

Hmmm..

Dagnammit.

Time zone difference.

The pitfalls of meeting up with people online is you have to have an innate ability to keep in mind the time zone differences. Well, lucky for me I was playing video games so time flew like a bat out of hell. At about 9.30 PM, a quick glance showed me some people on the voice channel. Still at this time I didn't click with the time difference so though Oh I hope I didn't miss it. Quickly and quietly I hopped in, but alas it was not even the start of the event so my little excursion became a full participation of the event. Which is a positive, since I am forced out of my cocoon. No, I am not a butterfly. Socializing however is not hard.

The memorable part of the whole event was the charming and flirtatious nature of Clara. She seems like a fun girl, independent, smart, able and charming. Nice smile by the way. She actually reminds me of one of my friends. She has that librarian look about her. Then again it could be because of her alluring glasses. She will be fun to meet in real life for sure. I can't forget to make sure I bring a friend though. Then again, maybe by the time I end up meeting her in Phils', she will have someone special already.

What was the event?

NFT

The event was to help everyone learn about the ins and outs of Non Fungible Tokens, or NFTs'. It is a way for artists, whether they are digital or traditional oriented medium users. One guest who is a digital artist was invited, @hiddenblade. She was very helpful, in her cute anime like voice. I have seen and stalked her channel already prior to meeting her on this event. Her works are sexy, upfront, kinda surreal and bright. They catch your eyes and hold you there before you get spat out feeling like you just walked through dreams. Am sure she would enjoy Brett Whiteleys' work.

Her experience and journey was honest and vulnerable. A genuine account was refreshing. I say it as past tense because I am not writing this as it was happening, but we knew that already. Word count. Heh.

What did I take from her talk? First, Ethereum seems to be the blockchain that is very popular and well established. The blockchain was the first to introduce the concept of NFTs' so its natural to have the market cornered. The gas prices are what will get you, if you are not careful. Opensea. Seems like a good place to start since as she explained has the free minting after the first paid mint you do. Quite informative. Her answers to my questions were real. It was not sugar coated. It was not a sales pitch.

I like that.

After that Kim took us through Hive and its capabilities of having NFTs'. If you are a gamer on hive you would probably have NFTs' already. The assets you gain after the initial entry fees give you even more chances to increase your NFTs'. ONe thing that's got me piqued is the NFTShowroom. I could probably get some of my past works digitized and minted.

It's a fun future I look forward to.

I want to thank @tpkidkai for doing the trivia questions. To all the other participants nice to meet you all and hope to see you someday in person.

Thanks for your time

I seriously want to thank you for the candid photos of me and @ybanezkim26! What a great way to help promote myself in finding a love affair! I will have to take you up on bringing a friend when you visit here. I promise to stay single. 😂 Fingers crossed!

Same sentiments with you regarding inviting people here on Hive but some really don't have the interest, drive or passion for it. What I learn is just to let it be and move forward. It will never be our loss.

But it was a pleasure to meet you during our Hive Talks and thank you for also engaging with us to beat those silent moments but we are definitely kind of used to with some dead air... It's really normal. What really is important for me is they were able to take some learnings with them every webinar we held.

Do let me know once you find me a suitable love partner from Australia so I can polish my English skills and "flirty" pick up lines! 😂

By the way, its best to start sharing your blogs in niche communities. Like for this blog, it would also suit well in the Hive PH Community or Loving Hive.

Your candid photo is actually pretty. It's raw grainy quality highlights your skin tone.

The big plus are the glasses and parted lips.

It was nice having you and meeting you in our humble webinar @akumagai, it was nerve wracking for me to have a foreigner in our midst and I wanted to act as polite and respectable as to not ruin first time impressions but then yeah I kinda screwed it up in the trivia quizzes and the real me just comes out just like that. I don't know much of the questions so instead of answering it wholeheartedly I just joked around but that's so me. So much for first impressions lol

To be honest it was fun meeting you. When you answered "west philippine sea" that cracked me up so bad lol. I thought to myself man this guy ain't so bad. His sense of humor exceeded my expectation, and I love people with a great sense of humor so thank you for that great laugh.

We might not have talked during the webinar but I like you already. I'm sure you are a great person to talk to personally 😎

Nah you are not wrong man. It was @tpkidkai who made the quiz, I was just there listening and joking around 🤣. I'm new to hive so I attend these kinds of seminars/webinars to know more. I love learning new things so if there is a seminar/webinars I know I would attend it without a doubt

Thank you so much for attending and listening attentively! I'm glad you learned something from me, even though I think sometimes I don't explain things clearly haha (I just think I'm not a good talker). Hahaha yeah my voice sounds "tiny" I'm glad you all still enjoyed it lol.

Indeed Clara and Kim added so much fun to the talk. It wasn't awkward or intimidating. They made the talk so chill :D

Also thank you for your words on my art! I just checked the artist Whitely, indeed I like the works and felt some connection to them. :D
