Commissioned Pencil Portrait

Hi lovely people! It's a new week and I would like to share the process of this beautiful art piece with you. It's a commissioned self portrait of a client.
It's always my delight when I hold my pencils to bring out a beautiful work that makes my clients and their loved ones happy.

As usual I have my art tools for my work which are my graphite pencils, charcoal pencils, measuring tape, erasers (Tikky eraser and pen eraser), blend rolls and brushes.

So like I would always say, as a foundation is very important in every building, so is the sketch part very important for every art portrait. Not only our writings needs proofreading but as an artist, you should proof check your sketch to be sure you have everything in place at the right points they're supposed to be.

The next picture below shows the first layer of shading. Bringing out the dark part and the light part of the face.
For me, I believe in gradual shading so I can have the best result at the end for my blending.

Right here on the picture below, I had shaded the face for a second layer and also brought out the parts of the face like the nose, cheeks, lips, eyebrows, eyes (but left out the eyeball till the finishing part. I don't know why but I just love doing it that way not that it's a drawing rule)

I moved over to the little neck part showing and then to the collar of the shirt, and the little squeezed or folded part of the shirt. Then I moved on to the tie knots.

And now the final part.
I finished up with the tie, beards and the hair.
Then moved on to doing the whole finishing touches, re-blending the face and adding the eyeballs to indicate the end of the making of the portrait. Then I joyfully sign out

My Client is popular known as The King or The Tiger so he liked this particular frame for his portrait.

I also decided to take a picture with my work after being done. I guess that's the right thing to do but sometimes I don't remember to do that especially when Its an express delivery.

Another thing I ensure to do when drawing of which I would like to share is that, I don't cut the exact size of the size of the portrait I want to draw but add excess on all 4 sides (Up, down, left and right) and this is to ensure that the edges of my main work does not become rough at the end of the drawing.

I'll be dropping my 🖊️ here as the end of the process of the commissioned self portrait for my client which he loved and appreciated.

Thank you for reading through 🤗

All pictures are mine
