Stranded In Paradise - My Review Of The Book
Tess was depressed after being fired from her job. She was unhappy, but then she had to go. Then, she had the business ticket with her, which she used to book a vacation in Hawaii.
Sometimes it would look so weird when you were relieved of your work, and it would look just like magic to you. Seeing Tess's life reminded me of the plan I had in mind. I had a plan to quit my job, but then I had to think twice: “Where will I go after leaving the job?” This was the question that left me floating in the air.
It came as a shock to Tess because she was not expecting it. Just to find a way to make a good decision, she finds herself thinking of going to Hawaii.
On her way to the airport, she sprained her ankle while trying to catch up with her flight.
One thing is not clear here. A sprained ankle would mean a broken one, but then there was nothing like “walking in a freestyle just to show her ankle truly got sprained; instead, she was walking perfectly.
She had no choice other than to lodge in a hotel since her friend was not indoors. Although sometimes it can happen this way, the one you wanted to see was not at home.
The place she lodged happened to be the same place Carter lodged. That night, a fire broke out, and all their luggage got burned to ashes.
This, I thought, was worth being stranded out there. She had nothing left with her and was left just with the clothes she had worn.
This situation is just like some kind of situation that happened in my village where floods took everyone's belongings away. They were left stranded without food or money to buy something. It's not an easy task, but then they migrated to an upland where they would be cared for. The government catered to them until the flood subsided.
Meanwhile, her mother, whom she had left for a long time now and had a quarrel with, had to come to her aid after she thought of calling her. If not for her mom, she would have even met more doom than she had. This is what we call a mother's love. She reconciled with her and went back home.
My thoughts about this book.
The title looks catchy. It shows that anyone who sees the title would love to know what happened in Paradise and who was stranded in Paradise. The beginning was okay, but the end was somehow so boring. I was sleeping while reading from the middle to the final aspect of the book.
Although I can draw out a lesson from this book that everyone would have learned, I think it's more about salvation and having faith, or may I call it hope?
I also discovered that Tess was only finding hope and her path, as well as faith. Her journey was not an easy one, but in the end, she found the true path, which happened to be the path to her mother's heart.
While reading, I thought Carter would somehow create a scene where he would fall in love with Tess, but he was far from it.
I will only give the book a 55% since one can draw a tangible conclusion from it.
I think Tess's story is very interesting and exciting. It's amazing how her life took such a drastic turn after losing her job. I understand your point that the plot gets a little boring towards the end, but I think the lesson of faith and hope it conveys is worth it.👍
Well, you are right. The message of hope and faith is enough.
