After Ten Years

It was a nailed sunny afternoon when I walked through the path of the hilly street with a gully path. I was searching for a room and parlor self-contained after we had been given a quit notice from my initial place of residence. As I hopped up the gully street, I saw a man who was a little skinny with dark brown eyes. He sat beside the security gate with a stick he was holding. The stick was a little short, and he carried it under his armpit. He was guiding it so marvelously, just as if it were his god. I never knew the reason behind him keeping that stick with all his heart.

I never cared to ask, but his look was so brilliant. Likewise, I walked deep inside the street searching for the reason I was there.

Meanwhile, my mom has been ill and has always been at home after the death of my father. My dad has this tactic of making my mom feel at home anytime she is sad, just like her present look. He would play his flute professionally, as he has great technique when it comes to flute.

My mom even listened so keenly to a flute being played by a gypsy who was coming to my area after the death of my dad. He had this fair skin with curly drop-down hair that was so dark and shiny.

I only knew him by what he did and the nature of his body. He was also skinny, just like this man right in the security post. Although I never cared to look at this one properly, all I knew was that he had these brown-looking eyes that could bring love into stay.

I hopped off and searched thoroughly but could not find one on that street. I met a man who directed me to a building also close to the roadside. The flat looks so nice, and I guess that my mom would like it. So, I decided to ask for the price, and the price was not far too much from the one we were in. I took the landlord's phone number.

On my way home, I heard the sound of the sweet song the gypsy had been playing to my mom years ago. I tried to listen carefully, but I was still in doubt if he was the same gypsy. Although it was a way for years from now, let's say 10 years ago. This face just looks young, which made me think he may not be the one I'm thinking of.

“Mum! I have seen a flat for us to rent. I just wanted you to see it before making the transfer." I was so happy while speaking to my mom.

“Just do the formality in my absence. Anything you like, I will prefer." My mom was so happy but still had this same cold feeling of loneliness. I have been disturbed emotionally anytime I saw her with this feeling. It's a feeling to remember my father, her husband.

I wanted her to follow me certainly just to make her feel at home and also for this gypsy man to give her the best song she had ever wanted with his flute.

I convinced her, and she agreed to follow me down. On our way, she sighted my dad's picture, which made her burst into tears.

“Mum, not again. It's been ten years now, and you still have the feeling of my dad. Just allow that feeling to slip off your mind for now." I was trying to pet her so that she would stop crying.

She later agreed to keep calm, and we went straight to the street, where I saw the flat. Getting to the gate side, we saw this same man and this time he was gathered by some passers-by. My mom heard the sound of the flute being blown and paused. “This sound seems familiar. I heard a similar sound ten years ago when your dad always blew his flute alongside one gypsy. Who is this man right here?” My mom was so curious to know this man to whom people gathered.

“Mum! I have not forgotten this sound from ten years ago. It also occurred to me, but then I saw this man to be younger than then," I told my mom.

“These people do not grow old that easily. They are always the same way but are old deep inside of them," my mom said as she drew closer to the crowd. behold, she saw the man and immediately recognized him. She began to investigate how to get closer to the man just to know if this man still remembered her. As she gets closer, the gypsy stands up. I'm shocked. “Ma'am! This is you. It's been a while”, he said.

“Where have you been?” My mom asked.

“I left for another town after the death of your husband, but friend ten years ago. I felt he was the one who understood me so well," he said.

“You are right, Garry. “My mom was so smart to have remembered his name.

“You still remember my name. Ma'am,“ he said.

“Very well. I still keep the memory of how you always played flute with my husband.”.

As they were talking, people who were gathered began to leave one after the other, but he picked up his flute and started blowing to the tone of how my father used to blow it and the sound that kept my mom going gaga. Immediately, my mom was lost in thoughts with her eyes fully closed. When he was done, my mom was already in tears; maybe she had traveled far back ten years ago.

“I will be coming here henceforth just to enjoy your flute," my mom said.

“It will be a pleasure, ma'am," he replied.

After that day,my mum has always been feeling so happy and more happier that we are relocating to that same environment the gypsy is.
